Forums - Sony - If you thought MCC was an excellent deal...

This is a good deal, and the reason I picked it up a few months ago. I think the reason people are saying the Halo MCC is such a good deal (myself included), is because it was remade specifically for the current gen. Compare it to the competitions remasters for this gen. It is a much better deal in terms of sheer content to price ratio. When Sony decides to put all the Uncharted's on a disc and remaster them to 1080p 60fps, with a beta access to uncharted 4, and possibly trailer to Uncharted movie, Then it will get all the fanfare it deserves, rightfully so. Halo is the flagship IP for the Xbox, the major reason people game on Xbox, no reason to downplay it.

see above post.  It's trying to put it on some sort of pedestal that annoys me.  You didn't see me going around blowing the horn of this or Ratchet and Clank collection when they were announced.  I said they were ALL great values!

I not here to argue, just point out what might be causing the hype. Like I said that GOW compilation is a good deal. I bought it a few months ago. But how about all the fanfare TLoU recieved from Sony gamers, and Sony themselves earlier this year with the readings, and "leaked" stories talking about how groundbreaking it was going to be compared to the PS3 version? Hell, I bought it, and gave my PS3 version to my brother.  Microsoft released this at the right time of the year, this game, bundled with the current sale on the console has created genuine hype for the Xbox this holiday season.  I think Sony will not counteract this, happy with their lead, and instead concede November, and December to MS, to concentrate on their heavy hitters coming soon in 2015. (Bloodborne, and The Order)

BTW has anybody seen any commercials for Halo MCC? I do not watch enough TV, only on sunday to know for sure. But I still see Sunset commercials .

First and foremost, quit hatin!

Put value aside, just accept people are excited to play these Halo games with a visual boost and their original multiplayer.

Fine be excited but don't go hating on every other collection by acting all high and mighty about your halo one!  They trash on everything else saying the value is not comparable.  It's ridiculous.  Let's tone down the hyperbole

Nobody is hating on other collections. People are just more excited about Halo:MCC than other collections.

The fact is Halo:MCC might be the most anticipated remaster/bundle ever. That doesn't make other collections a bad value, so settle down.

I'm going to assume this is a joke thread.

Somewhat.  I just hate how much is being made about MCC when I believe there are many collections of similar value out there.  Is it a great value?  Sure it is, but it's not unheard of.

First and foremost, quit hatin!

So you made a comparison which was quite off in the first place, people "fall" into your trap and now you are arguing that MCC hype is not justified? One might wonder why you really made the thread... But either way, the hype for MCC is real and it is justified, given how much work was put into this.

Well, GoW is a good series, but it doesn't come close to Halo in terms of story, multiplayer and superiority within its genre. A DMC collection would be another matter though...

DMC also had a comparable colleciton to Halo MCC.  It had 3 games in 1080p 60fps for $40.  That's $20 extra for one game.  As I have said multiple times now this precedent has been set.  It's a great value to be sure but is it unprecedented?  Nope

Again, the DMC collection is 720p. The God of War Collection is 720p. Most other PS2 remasters are 720p.

And again, the DMC collection lacks multiplayer. If Halo:MCC was just campaigns, there would be less interest.

of course it has MP the original games did lol that's like saying the trials in GoW are some sort of bonus or Ratchet MP is in 3.  The original games didn't cost any more because of a MP component did they?  Stop being silly, calm down, and assess the actual value of these collections instead of coming in thinking this is a hate thread or something.  They're all similar value and which is better depends on your preference.  Everyone can be happy with their great collection value!  Just don't overhype one over the others just because they didn't get E3 stage time.  This is marketing driving perception at its finest.

No, they don't have to port the multiplayer. Halo:CE Anniversary didn't have the original multiplayer, it just had a map pack for Halo Reach. The servers were also shut down for Halo 1 and 2 on PC and OG Xbox.

Halo:MCC could just be Halo 4 multiplayer is MS desired. But that would be stupid as was Halo:CE Anniversary not including the original multiplayer. Instead, they ported everything from those four games and have dedicated servers.

Yes, porting the muliplayer components of each game and every map does cost more money to develop. But its obviously worth it for Halo, people get Gold subscriptions to play Halo online.

Its funny, you simply have no idea how popular the Halo series is. For some reason you think its popularity is equal to GoW and DMC.

Ok question, because I can argue both, are you annoyed that Microsoft is advertising this as the greatest thing ever, or that fans are? Or both?

Nope. That's what amazes me. They haven't even advertised it because they wanted Sunset O to bloom like a 1st party IP.

Imagine if they had advertised it or will they do it this week?

I'd still say MCC as GoW isn't that special to me.

Orange Box beats all then. The reason MCC is special is because 2 of the campaigns have been remastered, not just up ported.

Agreed. MCC has me jealous. I probably will pick up the God of War saga, though. I've been playing Halo 2 online though XbConnect on my 360 to fight the temptation to complete the trinity of new consoles...
