Forums - Music Discussion - Taylor Swift's 1989 Album About To Smash A Record!

I do enjoy the fact she worked with Imogean Heap, Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic), and Jack Antonoff (Bleachers) on the album. I've only heard "Out Of The Woods" and "Shake It Off" but they are pretty decent (though Shake It Off gets caught in my head way too easily and I hate the line where she talks about "this sick beat")

Out Of The Woods is soo catchy, I'm glad you enjoy those songs. I really suggest you listen to the rest of the album.

Reputation proceeds me, they told you I'm crazy, I swear I don't love the drama it loves me <3

The words "Taylor Swift" and "real music" should never be used in the same sentence together.

Ever.

She's just the latest in a long line of pop princesses thrust upon the ignorant masses by a music industry that more and more tries to appeal to the lowest common denominator to maximize sales and improve their bottom line.

Then who should would you use in the sentence?? Because if you can't use Taylor, then I can argue that you can't use The Beatles, Michael Jackson, or Aretha Franklin.

Music history? God of music industry?

Someone needs a psychiatrist to help deal with fanboyism.

Have you ever heard about the Japanese music industry? You know... That one where people still buy CDs, where Utada Hikaru had 3 albums in a row selling over two million copies in their first week each? Where music is three times as expensive as in the U.S, yet they are breaking records anyway?

It seems like you don't, to prove my point I gave you a name. Make research before you let your fanboyism/fangirlism take over.

real music is definitely this! just look at the lyric......so full of deep meaning and touched my heart too :)

OP; no offense though.....hope you won't mind

*some soft-porn video here*

But Nicki isn't anywhere near as popular as Taylor, nor does she sell as many records. The amount of records Taylor sold this week is more than Nicki sold this year.

*sigh* i'm trying to joke here.....guess i should've try harder huh

Utada Hikaru is disqualified because she has zero relevance outside of Japan, so that argument doesn't work. Taylor is known world wide and people faint when they see her because she's the biggest rockstar ever.

While the three artists you mentioned all had people in the industry who either wrote or produced some of their hits/records, they all had a sound, style and substance unique to their own, and all either broke new ground or were highly infulential in the industry.

Taylor on the other hand is the exact opposite of that.. her music is indistinguishable from all the othe pop / rock candy crap out there today.  You could swap her songs with almost any other female pop star and wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I might be a tree, lion or living another life come 2050 but I'd bet my life savings that people won't be listening to Taylor Swift albums but they will still be listening to Elvis Presley, The Beatles and Beethoven. It's called bubblegum for a reason.

Thanks for the new pic. She looks good in that one.

Taylor Swift completely broke ground. She's responsible for country music crossing over to  pop radio. If it wasn't for Taylor country songs wouldn't get pop airplay, she is single handedly saving the dying music industry. Without Taylor and a handful of others music wouldn't exist anymore. The Beatles, MJ, and Aretha are talented, but Taylor just has a special quality... I think they lack that. She clearly is the answer to music. Don't get me wrong! The Beatles are super talented, so is Aretha and MJ, but compared to Taylor... They just don't cut it.

She's not bubblegum, and FYI Elvis, The Beatles, and among others were all considered bubblegum back in their glory days..

Thanks, I love it. lol

I'm not going to start being a fan that defends celebrities who doesn't even know I exist. But be clear then, music history involves all the music industries out there. It's not about the U.S only. You just proved yourself to be a mindless fan like most horny teen girls.
