Forums - Nintendo - Any gen where you preferred the competitors console rather than your favorite company's?

This generation, usually a Nintendo and sony fan but this gen, between Microsoft and sony.. the Xbox one is surprising me with some good exclusive compared to sony (so far)

Back then by 2001, I was a normal, unbiased Sony fan who was curious at the Xbox. I then went to my cousin's house who had both PS2 and Xbox. He decided to plug in and try the Xbox to show it to us. To their and my surprise, the machine wouldn't turn on. He kept trying and trying, but there was nothing on the screen. Also, the tray didn't want to open. My interest on the Xbox died that day.

Years later at high school, there were a couple of Xbox fans who were pretty nasty and... umm... you know. Thanks to their toxic hatred and their incessant bickering, my love to Sony consoles solidified. After that, I had no interest on any other console.but Sony's.

And that's that.

So you don't like the whole xbox brand simply because your cousin had a faulty one?

I still have my og xbox from 2002 and it still works perfectly fine

I didn't immediately hated the console when I saw how faulty it was. it just didn't inspire security on me. I slowly started to dislike the console and its community when I encountered annoying Xbox fans at my school, babbling endlessly how Halo was better than anything on the PlayStation 2.

Let's see.
I don't have too much experience with the Genesis so as it stands I would not call it better than the SNES. And also I like the SNES a lot, so Genesis surpassing it would be quite something.

As I have enjoyed JRPGs so much the PS1 has a bit of an edge on the N64. But only for RPGs, to me. I didn't really care for too many of the other things on PS1, save a couple exceptions. Similar story with the Saturn except with a smaller pool of games.

PS2 was great, Gamecube was great. Dreamcast is fun but overrated. Xbox... I dunno. I've never been jealous of it but maybe it has its unique quality moments.

Wii and the others are just too different. I don't feel the other two consoles are "better" than the Wii, in retrospect, but you need to own one of them to get many of the great games of the generation. I'll always favor the few great Wii games more, but by numbers there are more good games on the other consoles.

Right now I feel I still own the best console of the 8th gen. (; But there's very little choice to be had on it and given more time there will be a lot of games I want to play on PS4 and XBO that I can't get where I am now.

That's a really interesting question.

In general, Nintendo has produced the best consoles over the past 30 years, with one exception: GameCube. The PS2 and, arguably, Xbox supported more impressive libraries during the sixth generation, despite some amazing titles from EAD, Retro, and Capcom. Overall, however, Nintendo has been remarkably consistent, winning the third (by a mile), the fourth (again, by a mile), the fifth (barely), the seventh, and, so far, the eighth.

Nope. Nintendo makes the best games and everybody knows it.

For me it is the Sega Genesis, I like it sooo much better than SNES

This is even worse than your "90% market share for 3DS" thread.

You are such a traitor.

If it makes you feel better genesis was the only exception where I preferred a non-nintendo console

I've really only owned Playstation consoles so nope. I've liked every console I've owned.

The Wii sucked big time so I bought a 360. Loved the 360. Sold the 360 for a PS3 because everyone raved about the exclusives. Only the Naughty Dog games were great though. Big mistake. I still miss my 360.

I like the PS1 more than the N64 and maybe the PS2 more than the Gamecube (that one is close...)

Nintendo is still the best IMO overall. The only console maker to come anywhere close was Sega with the Genesis and the Dreamcast. It still pisses me off that the idiots at Sega ran that company into the ground.
