Sure, if 900p suddenly looks identical to 1080p.

Doesn't look like it to me.

Those pics are low quality. This one demonstrates the difference better.

i'm sorry but those differences are negligable, its such a small difference I literally have to try and see the difference.

Really? Because I instantly spotted the bluriness of the red hairs on the helmet, the hair follicles of Marius's facial hair, and on the hands of the statue on the left.

They arn't negligible. They are only negligible to those that "forced" themselves to stick with the lesser version. Anyone that's been gaming for years on PC can see the differences clearly. Which has been a point many have made here numerous times. You have to literally try to ignore the differences that jump out at you.

Meant to put damn near identical. The pics you posted cgi don't look much different in fact its such a small difference that I doubt most people would care or notice. Such small resolutions differences for the same games is laughable to compare to each other in my opinion.

Edit: you only proved my point further with the second set of pictures. You can see the differences a bit with rise, but with the second set you would have to try so hard to spot differences that its again laughable to even compare the differences.

Why is it laughable now and it wasn't last gen? Why were even smaller differences acceptable to discuss, but now we should write off differences of upwards of 25-50% res, among others?

it was laughable last gen in a lot of situations. i wasn't posting these types of threads last gen nor was I shitting on 360 or ps3 for having lesser versions that were barely noticable when compared with one another. This stuff is fine to discuss hoestly, it's just the level of relevancy you guys are giving such small differences is ridiculous in my opinion.

Considering for those unlucky enough to not be able to buy both then every little difference is important because hundreds of dollars are on the  line. For those like me that were able to buy and enjoy both those differences are still very important because you don't want to waste money on the inferior console version. I know I know, pc versions is usually the best(except for Ubisoft games which tend to go for Xb1/lowest common denominator/ and screw everyone else)But we are talking about Console version here, and with Steam deals + trading card game you can probably get the pc version for free or damn close to it so it's a non-issue.

These small differences are probably not a factor to a large percentage of the buyers. Alot of them don't go to gaming websites and look for resolutions differences and such im sure the amount is higher than last gen. Though its still nothing compared to those who just buy a game because it looks fun and good and is on their preferred console. The ubisoft thing is up for intepretation Im not a dev at their studio im not going to say I know whats going on with some of their games optimization issues on pc and the 900p thing with unity all i know is  they make games I like lol.

This is the same site and same Ryse pic pack, fool!

Regardless, how anyone can say that doesn't look much different is beyond me.

Selective aknowledgement.

I remember "obvious win for xbox" arguments and "looks night and day better" for the following games.

COD: Ghosts, 928x600 PS3, 1024x600 360 : pixel difference : 57,600
Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, 1152x640 PS3, 1280x672 360 : pixel difference :  122,880
Assassins Creed 3, 1280x718 PS3, 1280x720 360 : pixel difference : 2,560

People saw the differences here, with less than 150k difference, and now people are claiming no difference when the pixel difference is on average at least 633,600, a 5x increase in difference over last gen?

Then theres the way tesxture filtering was handled, "textures are blurrier on the ps3, easy xbox win".

Now the tables are turned suddenly the differences that were pointed out for basically every third party multiplat are suddenly insignificant.

Also, a point people like to ignore completely, there's an inherant problem with people doing comparisons based on a native image being stretched to match that of the other console for comparison, namely the systems used by applications like photoshop for upscaling are significantly better, and more powerful than a standard video upscaler.

In what case was it not laughable last time, then? I mean, this gen hasn't just been about 25-50% differences in resolution (sorry, but that isn't negligible). Plus, if they didn't matter, DF would have no need to make the analysis' that they do. But, alas, they are here, and obviously, these matter to plenty of people.

Why is it so hard for folks to just ignore this topic if it really ruffles their feathers like this?!

For the same reason anyone jumps into a discussion about anything Ps4 does better. It's because fear of buyers remorse is a real thing so people will defend their purchase decisions and donwplay arguments/facts that show their choice might not have been the best one to make.

Just because I say somethings ridiculous doesn't mean my feathers are ruffled lol I obviously just think these kind of topics are getting old.The point of these threads are to discuss anyway so I don't see the issue.

Digital foundry is gonna make analysis on any difference no matter how small, it's their job and I accept their gonna have topics for most multiplat games (they need that traffic). Still just because they posted an article about some differences doesnt make the differences all that important or mean that the differences are major.

Oh I remember, especially with Call of Duty games.

The speed at which is suddenly matters again when there isn't a resolution difference, or if the PS4 fails to hit 1080P too makes it all the more amusing.

Lest not forget the pre-patch release of Thief briefly having the occasional low resolution texture because of issues with asset streaming, and how such a thing "made the xbox version the best version".

Seems theres simply a branched response to this difference.

If the same resolution: "Xbox is closing the gap!"
If not the same: I can't tell the difference so it doesn't matter.

As I implied, if they're getting old, now, you're in for a very long gen.

No im not im not gonna reply to every thread thats like this obviously. I have a life otuside of the internet.

I mean sure theres a difference and Fanboys are gonna deny and exaggerate the differences, its bad on both fronts ill admit.
