Forums - Gaming - Xbox One's biggest problem is gonna take more than a price drop to fix.

At this present point in time, Xbox One is not the inferior console. Not even close.

The PR disaster of 2013 will take time to heal. The console doesn't have a single flaw.

And no, resulition does not make a game better.

while i agree that resolution doesnt make a game better, why would i buy a game thats on both systems that plays identical with the exception of resolution on the console that has the lower resolution.  That there is one of the issues the XBO has had.

I don't think anyone denies that the PS4 has more graphics ability than the XB1.  That is where it stops.

To assume that your individual opinion that the interfase is better only proves that it is just the opposite.  I can give 100 random people a test drive of both systems and probably come up with completely different opinions about both systems OS.

As far as price goes, even though  I agree that if the XB1 was cheapoer yet it would sell better, the point that the OP makes about the PS4 being the "it" machine is valid.  Price alone will not change that perception or reduce it.  Games and features will.

It is not the interface I'm talking about... interface is subjective and I'm fine with people liking the Xbone more than PS4.

The issue is with the core OS... the Xbone is just inferior at the core system for games than PS4... installation is a fucking mess in Xbone, patch system another bigger mistake, the navigation compared with PS4 (even to open apps) is slow, etc.

The base system for gaming is below what PS4 have... way below... so years behind like I said.

MS is trying to catch up since release adding base features that PS4 already have  since begining and they yet have a lot of work because insted the gap close it got wien after the Update 2.0... now MS have to give a anwser to SharePlay too.

And I don't thing more of the core issues will be fixed in one year.

It is completelly oppostite and different situation from 360... the 360 had a solid core system that managed to help to add great features... Xbone not... PS4 now have the solid core system that maneged to give us better features.

In my view MS have a way better OS team than Sony and that fact shows how hard is to add and fix things in the core of Xbone... I guess the hypervision and three OS is talking a lot from the SO team.

i often read this, but what are the masses of consumer who think actualy this: just because the ps4 is selling better, everyone thinks the xb1 is inferior?

This is just general consumer mentality.  People want to buy the "best" product.  By saying "I bought PS4 because it is " people infer "I did not buy because they are inferior products to the 'best' product."

Bottom line though is that people will buy what they think is best for them.

I also agree that the Zune/iPod and PS4/XB1 analogy is silly.  The premise works, but the actual support for parallels is way off.

that is 100% true.
but it does not equally mean if u dont buy the "not the best product for urself", you automatically think its inferior overall

I miss my Zune. I have the huge 160gb iPod classic, currently. I could never survive with a nano, not enough space for all of my music.

I disagree. The ps4 is not the "it" console or item. The ps4 benefited from great PR and an entry point that most people could afford. However, not this is a new ball game. The Xbox One is the only logical place to play this holiday season. With exclusives like Forza Horizon 2, and Halo MCC, and Sunset Overdrive and the most reliable and robust online service available, the Xbox One is the true leader. The combination of games and service with this new price drop only serves to bring the Xbox One to the masses. Thank you Microsoft. We are humbled.

There are a couple of people on these forums right not that seem like they are actually paid by MS.... it's pretty laughable.

Re you kidding?  He puts that in every one of his posts.  It is the best trolling tool ever!

Well I think Trolling is not allowed on VGC... and secondly I think he actually believes it because it's not the only thing he's put thats laughable.

No they are not mutually inclusive.  However, I wouldn't be surprised to see more people believe they are than believe they are not.

It seems like, recently, the best way to win a console generation is by not screwing up.

Sony lost the 7th gen because of the system's delay and ridiculous price. Microsoft lost this gen because the DRM policies ruined people's trust.

basically, yes.
or he ist just putting down the stuff he read on the intert as conclusion.
but ur right. he did not say it dircetly. just like i did not say he sounds like a console warrior, giving that kind of statement.
both were just general statements. but the could apply to him, me, or some1 else

At this point MS will have to move mountains to ever catch up to the PS4 because consumers see it as the inferior product, and no one wants to buy the loser.

i often read this, but what are the masses of consumer who think actualy this: just because the ps4 is selling better, everyone thinks the xb1 is inferior?
many guys on the internet act like this would be true, but the only thing they do is spreading bad word of mouth. the intention behind that is ofc different for every person.
but for me, every1 using that word sounds like a desperate fanboy. hell what would u think, if i call u an inferior human being. or i say: many consumer think the wiiU is not only inferior hardware, but also has an inferior software library, proven by the bad sales.
the word inferior ist mostly just offensive. even if u try to use it at factual as possible.

edit: i just really dont like the word, for what it is

The word is perfectly fine if you know how it was used. Since the word can be used in both objective and subjective context, the person who is using the word is almost always right. That's why it's sometimes used with the words subjectively and objectively to clarify context.

So if anyone says that the X1 is inferior he is probably right using either objective facts or his subjective opinion. Another fun part is that even a lot of objective facts can be subjective by putting weight on it or not.

"X1 is inferior because it has the weaker GPU" and "X1 is not inferior because I don't give 2 shits about graphics" are both valid and correct statements.

So if I say that X1 is inferior to PS4 in all aspects then I am perfectly correct because I am talking about all aspects that I give a shit about. If you say the exact opposite then you are also absolutely correct.

But as it is with all words, they can be rendered incorrect by false facts or willful ignorance. But that's not the word's fault.

So don't hate the word! Hate the word user!

By the way.  The zune had a better quality of sound than the ipod.  Much better, so you are wrong in that regard too.  This fact is pretty universally accepted on audio websites the world over.

But to the mass market of the people who were buying them did that matter? No. The Ipod was the more convienent means to the same end.

The main difference here is that the PS4 plays games better than the Xbox One. But the point the OP is trying to make is that the Xbox One has already been relegated to the status of "the other console" and that simply dropping the price or upping the value won't solve that.

THANK YOU!  I am not trying to make an apples to apples comparison here.  They are different circumstances, but the Zune-iPod example illustrates my point perfectly.

Bingo!  Except that this isn't new.  What really was special about the PS2?  Besides the DVD player, there really wasn't anything special.  It simply came out 1.5 years before the competition with plenty of games.  It was solid all around, but generally wasn't exceptional in any way.
