Forums - Gaming - Ninja Theory can recoup Hellblade budget with 300,000 sales

But will they reach it? If not, then the gaming industry might be doomed after all.

I have no doubts they will reach it. Keep in mind that it will most likely not be at full retail price, but $40 at most, and my guess is $25-30...

In a genre liked by PS crowd, from a developer with good reputation, should clear that hurdle easily.

Very nice mentality, more devs should adopt this. But I hope it means the game isnt short and shallow.

"[Hellblade] is about what we feel passionate about, what we're good at"

A mentality of an artist and a true gamer, not a businessman who have no understanding of the industry.

That's how everyone in the business should think and I'm sure the sales and money will follow.

Exactly, The only way to evolve and push the industry forward is to make something that the customers don't know that they want yet, focusing on making something good rather than just trying to give the customers what they want.

I wish them all the best. The game looks like a spiritual successor to heavenly sword, and I liked that game a lot. Based on the team's past games, the number is doable. It all depends if the fans has forgave the team over the dmc fiasco or not ( I liked dmc, but it felt like a brand new IP to me). Also, I hope this game will be available as a physical copy too. I know most of indie game are digital only, but a man can hope.

So based on that graph there, how many sales do you need to break even on a "low-end AAA" game?

300k for a well made game should be easily achieved on PS4 alone.

Don't copy random editorials.

300k is a very doable goal. I have no doubt that Ninja Theory can reach that milestone, probably way more than that.

It's certainly possible if they can get some help from Sony as far as advertising it online and such, give it some spotlight. It's timed if i'm not mistaken so they can get some more revenue from the XBO1 release

With PS4's big install base it will be easy to make a good profit.

IMO, these developers have yet to make a game that didn't genuinely surprise me or full out impress me. I would support them whatever the game is, but I do wish they could make an Enslaved sequel or something similar to Kung Fu Chaos.
