Very cool. Looking forward to this quite a bit. Should tide me over until God of War IV comes out.

It will make its money back but the industry is all about big money. Ninja Theory can release this indy quality title and it will do well. You will have many people complain about the PS2-3 graphics and it will only make so much money.
If this does well this will engourage them to make only indy games much as many studios have changed focus to mobile.
Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.
Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Great, sigh, now when ever a game fail people will quote this game, as if it's the rule not the exception.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

THIS!!!!
must buy.
I wonder what the game will "lack" due to such a small team size, most likely it will be pretty short or use backtracking to increase game time.
And I hope the people in the team won't have unhealthy work loads for extended periods of time (well, that seems pretty standard in the industry though ..).

Looking strictly at the budget of 20 million, you'd need about 670,000 sold. Assuming 30 dollars per 60 dollar retail game goes to the publisher. |
Which is still a really easy target.

Actually it does matter. The "dudebro" population has become an epidemic that's affecting all of gaming. Thanks to them flocking to the gaming community in droves an their refusal in general to sexpand their horizons, the market has been flooded with graphics oriented, bloated budget dudebro candy. They've created an environment that rewards repetitive releases, little innovation, visuals above gameplay, and destroys developers with a single flop.
What's more, with game companies being companies as well as game designers, they're going to design games that will make them the most money possible, so we continually see elements from the top dudebro genre's creeping into series where it doesn't fit. Resident Evil 6 is a perfect example.
The mainstream video game community is at an all time low in terms of game output and creativity, and the situation is made worse by the impending collapse of every major company due to the pressure to release larger and more profitable games. You want a new Dragon's Dogma? Too bad. Megaman isn't gonna grab the big bucks, don't waste time on it. F*ck Crash bandicoot and Jak and Daxter, we need more third person action adventure games because that's what sells to the dudebro epidemic.
The only way the video game market is going to return to a more balanced place when the AAAs inevitably collapse and companies avoid becoming that bloated again, or we find a way to transmit AIDS through playing CoD.
That is a small target.
They will early pass that on PS4.
Not a real game, can't count it blah blah blah. Game looks sweet, I'll certainly give it a shot when it comes out.
Bet with Adamblaziken:
I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
