8 Player mode could be the Board Game mode and that would actally work really well. Everybody would have a space on the board, but not everybody would play in every match/game. Its not the 8 player Brawl though (although that might be one of the minigames), so I'm probably just speculating.

This was a leak more than a confirmation. Direct could still be on its way (and I expect it to be)

Confirmed by Sakurai, although you need to have the 3DS version of Smash Bros to do so
