They haven't lost money on PlayStation, but other parts of the company. So that is off-topic, as we're not talking about the company here.

You do realize that it is Sony as a whole that's loosing money, not the Playstation division? The Playstation division is making money.....
And yes, it was off-topic enough to get him banned.

Hah!
OT: I think this is an unfair fact for Sony itself. Their home consoles have done well, but if you actually look then it's a different story... sometimes.

Calculating an average from just 3 consoles is a bit pointless especially when you have one console which is just 30m of being larger than the other 2 combined. |
That's why the median exists, which would be 102.49m or so.

I find that Sony fans often ignore the Vita, apparently profits from portable platforms doesn't matter. However, when we look at Nintendo's success handhelds are always taken into consideration.
Playstation is still a huge brand, but given the failure of Vita the brand is losing steam. The market is changing and there is less demand for dedicated gaming machines.

Well PS3 sold significantly less than PS2 but its not considered a failure. It still had a large userbase and moved a ton of software.
The Vita is a genuine failure because of weak support, small userbase, and abysmal sales with little potential of improvment.

And MS fans with no horse in the race make astute yet slighly condescending observations. Whats your point? generalizing a fanbase is not nice.

What, you attribute the failure of the Vita to that the PS brand is losing steam? I'd say that must be the smallest reason that Vita sales are abysmal.
Since portable and homeconsole gaming are two completely different markets it makes perfect sense to not include handhelds in this.
