The New 3DS is already available in Japan, so some people did a speed check of the New 3DS compared to the old one.

Obviously the New 3DS is faster, but it's surprising how much faster it actually is.

The video shows that the N3DS is around 2 times faster at opening software (Smash Bros.) and the Eshop.

But when downloading a game (Smash Bros. 3DS demo in this case), the New 3DS is up to 10 times faster than the old one.

While the New 3DS only needs around a minute to download the demo, the old one needs more than 10 minutes to do so.

But that's not all. In Smash Bros. 3DS the new C-Stick also allows you to easily use Smash attacks and also charge Smash attacks by holding the C-Stick.

That's a huge gameplay advantage over the old one.

Now add to that the amiibo support, the new faceplates, the improved 3D effect and many more little features and that shows you that the New 3DS isn't just a simple upgrade like the DSi was. Also with more exclusive software this should be a reason to upgrade from your old system.

Does the New 3DS still supoprt DS-games? If it is out in Japan, that should be known now.

Still not buying it. What's it gonna get. 2 years of minimal support? I rather wait for the next system. NIntendo walks a fine line of making this version worthwild. And losing sales from the past versions if actual new games are made for it.

i dont find this surprising, its actually what i would expect from NEW hardware... it shouldnt even be called the "NEW" 3DS" since its more like a new handheld than a new version of an old handheld, its like calling the PS4 the "NEW PS3"....

No what I wanted to hear honestly

My 3DS XL is no where near as slow as his old 3DS, i think hes probably got a massive memory stick in it, i know if you go above either 32 or 64gb i cant remember, it seriously slow down on opening applications and boot up time.

For me it all comes down to the exclusive games. I got my 3DS XL less than a year ago so I'm not exactly too keen on getting another one so soon. However, if Nintendo reveals a N3DS exclusive Mario, Zelda, or Metroid game, I'd probably have to cave in and get one eventually.

I get pissed off thinking about the New 3DS. I waited all the way until May to finally acquire a 3DS, thinking that all of Nintendo's hardware revisions were out of the way and I could finally get one without having to worry about missing out on the latest and greatest. Then this happens.

I think this will kill off Nintendo in the handheld business. It's THAT big of a mistake. And I like Nintendo, but that's just the truth. Customers in gaming won't stand for this tiny of a lifecycle, and they pushed 3DS XL hard recently, so they just burned the shit out of a ton of people who for the most part won't buy one of these. That fractures the userbase.

The absolute smartest thing they could do right now is cancel the N3DS and refund everyone, but they won't of course. The longer this plays out (poor support for N3DS, but diverting resources from supporting everyone who has a 3DS/3DSXL), the worse things will get for them.

I have no idea how they could be so stupid. Naming the WiiU the "WiiU", bringing out a "New" 3DS shortly after a revised 3DS (in a market with no real competition in dedicated gaming handhelds! WHAT?), attaching a costly tablet and low specs to their gen8 console (which made the price higher than people were willing to pay for a 'casual' console), it's just too much.

This will be the nail in the coffin of current NOJ leadership, but the question now is : "Is it too late for Nintendo to recover?" Because there's absolutely no way this ends well for Nintendo, the N3DS disaster will make the WiiU look like the Wii in terms of failure/success ratio.

As much as I dislike the "new" 3DS,  I don't think that will will happen. Its just an upgrade (what the 3ds should have been if you ask me) the same with the DSi, and that offered some upgrades in a couple of games and a few exclusive software (none of them worthwhile)

So, for me the New 3ds is more for people who didn't buy a 3ds yet or for those that are still with the first version (like myself). Even tough I hate the idea of Xenoblade to be exclusive -.-
