None of those games are AAA blockbusters, at least not in terms of resources.

How do you prove that ? And that especially goes for SM3DW ...

The production values for both games are very high with SM3DW having a second year in development and the studio behind both games have 100 employees. Nintendo may not be the biggest spenders compared to the likes of Activision, Ubisoft, or EA but all you need is a budget of over 20 million dollars to be considered "AAA". Nintendo also shelled out 30 million dollars just for The Wonderful 101 ...

It's just logical, Mario games do not employ vast teams, celebrity voice talent, licensed music, stretched production cycles, cutting edge engines, or any of the extravagent expenses of the AAA blockbuster variety. They're absolutely not AAA blockbusters by the modern definition.

EAD Tokyo making a WRPG or an FPS would be like getting a weightlifter to do the 100m sprint.

You say tomato, I say tomato

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

I feel like this is Nintendo's modus operandi. Announce a game that looks pretty decent, then over time it starts to look better and better (ala 3d World and Captain Toad). It's like the opposite of the rest of the industry.

Also, I'm kind of baffled people want this game to be $20. $30 I could maybe understand, but I've seen plenty of small indie games for ~$15 and none of them were anywhere near as polished or content rich as this game looks to be.

Toadette playable = day 1 purchase for me. That ending with them dancing so happily was too cute.

Isn't EAD also working on Splatoon? Or is it another team?

Because, if that's so, they're setting the standard for the pace studios should have their projects out for Ninty.

Damn, I kept hearing EAD thrown all over the place to the point where I don't know which games were developed by which branches.

File size for the Japanese version is 1.9GB, so slightly bigger than 3D World itself.
