How do you prove that ? And that especially goes for SM3DW ... The production values for both games are very high with SM3DW having a second year in development and the studio behind both games have 100 employees. Nintendo may not be the biggest spenders compared to the likes of Activision, Ubisoft, or EA but all you need is a budget of over 20 million dollars to be considered "AAA". Nintendo also shelled out 30 million dollars just for The Wonderful 101 ... |
It's just logical, Mario games do not employ vast teams, celebrity voice talent, licensed music, stretched production cycles, cutting edge engines, or any of the extravagent expenses of the AAA blockbuster variety. They're absolutely not AAA blockbusters by the modern definition.
EAD Tokyo making a WRPG or an FPS would be like getting a weightlifter to do the 100m sprint.
