Nintendo still seems to be hitting 60fps just fine.

Yep, in platform games and a kart racer.

Also, they're sticking with 720p.

I repeat... 900p? 30fps? This is the so-called next gen?

Well lets not ignore the improved graphics.

1080p with 60 fps is a simple goal if the graphics saw little improvment.

Ubisoft isn't doing very well with PR these days are they?

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

There is some truth in his comments, but in many cases its not like they had a choice; the hardware they were using simply didn't have the grunt to achieve 60fps. The simple fact is that this generation of consoles is underpowered.
Think about how people line up for days to spend $600 on an iPhone 6 despite minimal differences in the current phone they only bought 1 year ago for $600.... They are happy to do it.
Why then are people reluctant to spend that kind of money and more on a new console which only comes around every 6-8 years? Perhaps it's a residual effect from the poor PS3 first year sales but the industry is very wary of price point. If PS4, Wii U or Xbone weren't so concerned with price maybe 1080p/60fps wouldn't be this holy grail of gaming that devs seem incapable of delivering....

We're in the end times everyone.

"like the Rachet and Clank series [where it was dropped]"

Bad example by the way, the older ones felt better than the more recent ones.

They did, but i wouldn't really blame that on 30fps itself. A totally locked 30fps with effort put in to maintain a low input delay would be incredibly difficult to distinguish from the series original 40 to 60fps variable (without quickly trying one after the other anyway).

That's what most of us assumed they were going to do when they decided to change to 30fps. Instead we got Nexus, which could barley maintain 30fps when just running about... During fights it often dropped into the teens ¬_¬

I hope the new one have a stable one.

Ubisoft is gone full retard. Ahhh.

I agree with Ubisoft on Assasin Creed and other action-adventure games like Zelda or Uncharted or Tomb Raider not needing 60 fps.
You need 60 fps in fighting games, racers, fast paced action games, and challenging platformers with many obstacles and difficult jumps. But Assasin Creed's gameplay doesn't need 60 fps, it is not fast paced, doesn't have very complicated inputs, and is very forgiving, you don't need great timing or aiming.

would u play f-zero gx with 30 fps? or a fast shooter?

F Zero GX wouldn't even be the same game at 30fps.

The smoothness and responsiveness is a huge part of its appeal, its what gives it that insane sense of speed, and allows you to react in time at said speeds.

I know I will be in the tiny tiny minority, but except for first person shooters, I actually prefer 30fps to 60fps. It just looks weird at 60fps if it's not a first person shooter
