Now for EA and Ubisoft getting what they deserve for gimping their games.
I don't think much of this has to do with Destiny(though maybe their expectations were to high) but more of the eventual CoD fatigue that's been settling in ever since the 8th gen launched. the same thine happened to Guitar Hero and Rockband, if you keep serving the same stuff with added fluff people will get tired of it.

Not every AAA company pulls crappy business practises like Activision.

This writer clearly doesn't know what SW:ToR is or Elder Scrolls Online. "article" is written like many of the "you should hate destiny because I hate destiny" threads that have been knocking about here the past weeks/months it's getting pretty sad at this stage, to even try to spin the fact that sales drop after launch week as a negative about a game is just trolling really.
As for the people suggesting that Activision is going to be gone soon and it will follow mobile developers... please take a second to consider that activision are currently worth $14 billion, they aren't going anywhere because some whiny ex writer for some third rate site would like to get some hits on his angry blog.

I'm sure Word of Warcraft trends aren't helping the situation. Also the negative feedback of Beta and PTR being a mess right now.

destiny and ghosts realy hit em hard. both games are just bad for the money they spend on it.
they have a major problem in the managment.
Destiny is a lot better than a 6/10 but Bungie completely f'd up by not having a proper storyline, would have reviewed and been received much better.
The first impression is the story and it's probably the worst in a game that tries to have a story. However, after you get over the initial and massive disappointment and continue playing with your friends it actually provides more hours of fun than most games.
