Forums - Sales - XB1 will last the longest!

so basically people will stick to their XB1 while everyone goes off and buys a PS5? Good for M$ I guess.

I'm not a fortune teller so I don't know. But wouldn't it be funny if the call the Xbox One successor the Xbox Three Sixty?

I'm still bummed they didn't call the XBO, the Xbox Infinity like it was rumored. Had they chosen that name, the naming of the successor who have been easy: Xbox Beyond.

I think people will be ready to upgrade quicker from this gen. The graphics where not the jump people wanted on any system.

Hate to break it to ya, but that will be the case in every subsequent generation.

It may outlast the Wii U since Nintendo didn't make this console to last as 10 years like the competitors, but the PS4? If it can become profitable and have a good number of people who use it for the multimedia capabilities I wouldn't past it to outlast the PS4, even if Microsoft does come out with a successor.

Sony are much, much better at marathons than Microsoft are... And this gen, they're also dramatically better at the sprint.

Your post comes across as delusional. Windows 10 is not going to somehow be a magic genie for the Xbone. I'm not sure how one would even get that idea.

Expect Xbox TWO as soon as MS can release it without angering it's existing fans.

I bet MS is already contemplating an "iphone" type scenario where they release new hardware much more frequesntly that is backwards and forwards compatible - essentially, plays the same games with better res/framerate.

I wouldn't go that far, best case scenario for Microsoft is that Windows 10 on Xbox One effectively turns it into a DVR, Computer on the TV, and gaming device
it could possibly give the Xbox One a viable boost overall.

I dunno.  The original Xbox had a short life but the Xbox 360 is still getting support even though it launched in 2005.  It didn't get a successor until 8 years later while the PS3 successor came 7 years after launch.  Not saying M$ is better or worse.  I'm just saying the next consoles will release when/if there's demand for it.  At least both companies are making hardware that lasts longer than five years, huh?

Consoles are always defined by the games they have. That's what determines how well they sell and how long they remain relevant, all the rest is in the "nice to have" category. So if Microsoft wants to last the longest it needs to beat Sony in the games department.

I'm not saying they can't or won't but outlasting or outselling will not come from Window 10 integration or any other side feature. It has to come from games.

I agree 100% that games are the most relevent feature of a gaming console.

The reason I bring up Windows 10 integration is that M$ has developed an OS that will all apps/GAMES developed for it to work on all devices without need to recode for each kind of device.  THe development time for the app/game will be dramatically reduced if they can make it once for 100's of millions of devices with only one iteration.

So, there will not be 100's of games, but 10's of thousands of games!  Sure, they won't all be AAA, but as we have all seen, the small indie games are getting better and better.

Games won't be the problem, the problem will be how to find time to actually play them!

It is near the end of the end....

Playstation Consoles always have the best legs out of the consoles of its respective generation, just look at the PS3 (on the weekly chartz) not only ist it above the 360 and way above the Wii, but its even outselling the Wii U and i dont see how the PS4 wiil be any different, plust the PS4 is shapping out to be the best PS console ever.

Plus games are the main selling point for consoles not Apps, there maybe some people out there willing to buy a console for some apps, but i think we can agree that most people buy consoles because of its games.
