Forums - Sales - XB1 will last the longest!

I don't look at it like the only advantage of adding Windows 10 support to the XB1 makes it more of a media center.

It already accomplishes that. What you gain is 10's of thousands of games designed for PC's and tablets that work without being rewritten for the XB1. The other benefit is to developers is that they can just add controller support to a game or app to make it compatible to the XB1. The rest of the

How could more games not help?

I can care less what my console does outside of playing games. Everything else i have can do the rest.

People who would want Windows 10 and their universal entertainment system would use their computers, laptops, and others and NOT the Xb1. The Xbox brand has always been tied to gaming and that will not change. Gamers are the ones interested in buying consoles and games are also one of the main reasons they buy one. Why would they care of this Windows 10 integration if they already have a separate computer than can do more?

Exactly,  Windows 10 allows ALL of the games for PC's,tablets, and the lowely smartphones to be compaitble with the XB1 with only adding controller support.

If you own an XB1, this will add 10's of thousands of games to play on it.  What else could you want from it?

If I own an Xb1 and own a computer, I would personally use the computer more to take advantage of even more features and more space. I would only use the Xb1 for games unique to it. Same with the Ps4. If I am already using my computer for entertainment purposes and more then why would I want to switch to my Xb1 if it has less content?  I wouldn't, I would just continue using the computer and even buy the games there since they're also available in it anyway, and I even have more space to store more games in it's definitive state, while multitasking.

I would only switch back to the Xb1 to experience exclusive features on it and this Windows 10 integration and the content it offers aren't unique to the console.

I wish you had made some situation analysis before just "wishing that something happens the way you want it just because it has potential in one aspect".

- First of all, even if XB1 gets full win10 integration, we know that most PCs are on an upgrade cycle less than 5 years. XB1, as a general use machine, is already outdated by several years now, and in approximately 7 years, they will be outdated by around 10 years. Maybe as a dedicated games console for which the development costs have been skyrocketing, this might be tolerable, but not for the general use. By that time, even my smart watch will be many times faster as a general use machine, let alone the PCs.

- Secondly, MS has been on a 3-year release schedule recently, and by the time the generation ends, Win12 or whatever they choose to call it will be out. I am not so sure if they can cope up with that in XB1, and even if they do, they still have to retain compatibility with all the existing user base, which means, they cannot use more than 3 GB RAM, 5-10% of the CPU-GPU resources, whatever limited hdd space has been made available to them etc.. They just cannot use the machine as a pc, as the GENERAL side enlarges, the gaming side will have to suffer due to the closed hardware. This is no PC, mister. And it is exactly why they lost so vividly to Sony in the first place, trying to be too many imperfect things to too many people.

- Third, People do not need another general use platform. People now have tablets, smartphones, streaming boxes (apple tv, chromecast, fire tv ect), laptops, chromebooks, smart TVs etc etc etc.. They have digital solutions everywhere. This will be even more pervasive in 7 years. Nobody's gonna give crap about XB1's promised integrated futures. Why would I care about XB1's skype integration while all my other machines can do the same thing? At least definitely not a compelling reason.

You know who is gonna win? The console with the best and most games, brand recognition and the best network of friends and peers. Simple it is.

like phones are more powerfull than last gen consols right now?

thats still bs. theire not. and smartwatches wont be more powerfull than current gen consoles in 10 years from now

not if we still use silicon chips.

Well I am not even going to sit here and lie like most people are doing. I got a very good pc but if my Xbox One gets some pc functions that work then hell yea I am going to use them if I am already chilling in the living room doing some gaming or doing something else on my Xbox One.

I am not talking about GRAPHICS or GAMES but the GENERAL USE side of it. The CPUs in smartphones are cathing up with the XB1 already and in 7 years, they will be much faster, which means they will be much better at most integrated PC-like features of XB1. So the integrated features are not a compelling reason at all. What else is this generation to do, to get you believe that? Nobody cared about Kinect, or snap functionality, or voice recognition, or the fact that it runs 3 OSes in a VM environment etc etc... Win10 will not matter either since everyone already has a PC. Clear now?
