I think Microsoft should buy third party publishers to obtain their IP.
I think it helps a lot. Without the advertising it wouldn't chart at all in the top 100 so it's a valid effort :)

No, they should purchase it to help their console (you've sometimes got to spend money to make money).
Yes, they should drop it as Sony might drop it too and money saved on this kind of advertising can go into games.

Unless they exaggerate, it's worth it, for at least two reasons, first it gives its platforms more visibility, second it keeps it in good relationships with 3rd parties even when its platforms aren't doing particularly well.

In my opinion, it seems MS is just wasting millions on these deals, with little to nothing to show for it. It seems the PS4 versions of these games, as well as the HW, are just destined to sell more. On a related note, it seems we are also seeing the sharp decline of the COD franchise this gen. I don't think I have ever seen a COD so low in the Top 100 on Amazon (or sometimes not even in the Top 100), especially in the US and UK, with less than two weeks to go (sorry, got the release dates mixed up.) Also makes me think that MS wasted money on a dying franchise. Thoughts? |
Just to remind Sony supporters Amazon it's not only website selling game and consoles
It worked for them during the X360 times. COD really helped Xbox in the US market.
The deals for Madden and Fifa on the other hand, aren't really helping that much.
well they make there consoles Fugly for one, mainly referring to the CoD xbo.
And they have to select better games to feature, sonys pick up of destiny did very very well for them, plus the white ps4 looks great.
Yeah, a white xbo is coming out for sunset overdrive, but its not a proven IP yet or has they hype of a $500 million game.

343 Is a company born to create only one IP and nothing else. Stop expecting creativity elsewhere where that is not their purpose. They will be making Halo until the game is finished.
MS has money...all you have to do is hire the most talented developers, writers and artists have them understand the story and they'll make magic or at least retain somewhat of what the magic was all about. If you manage to hold onto old members of the crew you're golden.
Which brings me to my next point for OP:
MS should buy EA because they wont be able to keep up with Sony's new IP development this gen (even though Sony will still cut it down).
