Forums - Sony - FFXV: The Change over the past 8 years.

It is a completely new game, all that wasted money on PS3 assets, they're all replaced or upgraded with current gen now. This game shoould've come out a few years ago, I still have doubts whether it will be out by 2016, 10 years (LOL) after its announcement.

So has XV had a new trailer almost every year? Didn't know that. TLG isn't that lucky.

I'm absolutely going to buy FFXV, but I really don't have anything to say about it right now... Haven't watched much of the trailers so I need to catch up.

Yep.

I think the problem with the Final Fantasy series is as the graphics have gotten better, it's harder to take the story as seriously.

When a dude with 15 zippers on his leather jacket and a Korean pop-star hair cut is telling you about his rough life with voice acting, it's kinda hard not to chuckle at the cheesiness of it.

I think it's a mistake to make characters in a fantasy game like this too contemporary (like driving a modern looking car and what not), I also don't understand the obsession with male characters that look like women, I get that US games aren't much better with the bald space marine thing, but still.

I see what you mean with the story thing as the graphics get better, but this is actually a big new take on FF. This is the first "fantasy based on reality" game so keep an open mind.

As for the characters, you just have to accept that there are regional design tropes we have to live with. The japs ALWAYS make their characters look like this, they are never about bulging muscles and crew cuts but always about excessive good looks that make their characters borderline heterosexual. Just look at practically every single japanese game. Hell, even some of their most popular actors look like that. eg?

THOSE ARE ALL REAL PEOPLE!!! AND MALE ACTORS.

This is why i find it funny when people talk about the character design in japanese games. You can see where their games get their inspiration from.

Yeah, I'm still excited for this game. I really hope this is the Final Fantasy game I've been waiting for.

Last gen was such a disappointment.

What's your reasoning for those doubts?

The way I see it recent events have showed the opposite.  Tetsuya stepped down, which probably means he's done everything he needs to do on the game and wants to go focus 100% on KH3.  Also the demo is coming out, usually when a demo comes out for a game it means its nearing completition.   I see a 2015 in Japan for sure, and hopefully worldwide, but if not then early 2016 for us.

Agree with the OP i think the game will get faster as you level up, plus the fact that noctis wasnt teleporting all over the place and runing and hitting everyone (like he did on the E3 trailer) on the last trailer doesnt mean that he cant still do it, plus on the last trailer there were fewer enemys and the situation was more manageable, so i saw little reason for the player (noctis) to get as agresive as he did on the E3 trailer.

Also the game indeed has come a long way there is gameplay elements (like noctis interactions with his companions in real time during battle) that werent present on the PS3 version and i doubt they would have been possible back then, all of that plus the big world, the car, and the awesome graphics. and im happy knowing that they decided to take this franchise and re-work it for next gen.

To think I was 16 when the game was first announced, and it's not even out yet... *sigh*

Maybe its going to be out by 2021, 15 years after its announcement lol.

On the other hand 2015 would be a great year to release it. Lets hope for MMXV FFXV.

Seriously.. 8 years since the first trailer... that must mean they started develop this game 2004... how the hell will this game ever earn it's money back? it would have to sell like 15 million or something just to break even.

No, I think to break even, they'll do what they did with XIII: they'll release a bunch of direct sequels or spinoffs. People are so starved for XV that SE won't have any qualms releasing at least as many sequels as they did for XIII, but probably a good 4 or 5. I predict the first sequel a year and a half after XV's release, and probably one every year and a half after until XVI (which I believe will be based on Agni's Philosophy).

And in the meantime we've got 3 "amazing" FFXIII games!
