They would have never needed it. Kinect was a reaction to the Wiimote, which never would have existed in this line because Nintendo would not have needed it.

I bet Yamauchi's family wish they had taken the deal, but who knows what would have happened by now.
It doesn't necessarily mean Nintendo as we know it would be gone. It probably means MS would never have made Xbox. Kind of like there would never have been PlayStation if Nintendo just used Sony's CD technology in the N64.
