Forums - Gaming - Destiny 75 on metacritic: its a gorgeous game but brings nothing new

I don't think reviewers would care about the game "bringig nothing new" is there was just MORE of the stuff they did actually bring. The main complaints I have seen are:

Game lacks content
Story sucks shit
Progression is flawed
Loot system is flawed
Missions are extremely repetitive

Borderlands prequel could come and just be more of Borderlands 2 and it will review well because at its core, BL is a good game. At its core Destiny seems to simply be a meh game.

I'm not surprised. This type of game reviews poorly, as a reviewer can't simply blow through and have a feel for what the game offers. It's made to be an ongoing experience, not a game where you can sit down and complete it in one day. I said as much a few months ago, that I thought reviewers who are only used to standard format titles would be harsh.

I also want to say that people being mad at the game because it was "over-hyped" is pathetic. If you bought into the hype without bothering to understand the game then that's your own fault. Don't get salty because of your own gullibility.

To say this game is an MMO in reality is a huge stretch.  I ran into more people at the crossroads in the Barrens in WoW during my first 30 minutes of play then I have in Destiny my entire time playing from Day 1.  I beat all of the story, pvped, and participated in strikes (raids).  Reviewers definitely could have gotten the gist of this game and gave it a proper and fair review without populated servers.

In fact, the reviews would probably have been better if copies were handed out before the world was populated...because after release it is painfully more obvious how the MMO interaction is really lacking from this MMO FPS.

All that being said, I think a review score of 7/10 is fair.  FPS elements are excellent, and I always enjoyed chasing new guns in Borderlands and such, which is done fairly well in Destiny as well.

So?

Is Call of Duty anything new? Or a great game each year that sells bucket loads. Guess which publishers/developers want.

Next Tekken/Steet Fighter are they going to get criticism for being pretty much the same games they've always been with prettier graphics?

Hmm, pie.

I'm shocked, SHOCKED that World of Halo Destiny brings nothing new to the table.  Bungie is the most overhyped, one-trick-pony developer in the entire industry, and that's saying alot.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I thought the same after playing the beta.

Ouch, what makes you say this?

Even though the game is disappointing, I don't regret buying it.

I'll still spend a good number of hours with it, especially as I wait for upcoming titles.

The problem with isn't its lack of innovation even if people keep saying that. The problem is the game is kinda boring and tedious.

If you want an excuse to shoot waves of enemies with friends, Destiny good for that. But that isn't enough to make this a noteworthy game.

CoD:Ghosts didn't score much better by the way. But that game actually had a pretty enjoyable campaign and story.

Well they haven't done anything noteworthy outside of Halo. However, their five Halo games are still of the best FPS games ever made.

Maybe some of their best talent stayed with MS, because Halo 4 was great.

Its not a gorgeous game. Its a mediocre shooter. If some people are starving for a new shooter they should try Destiny. Without the $500 million marketing no one would pay attention to this game.
