Forums - Gaming - Destiny 75 on metacritic: its a gorgeous game but brings nothing new

For once I agree with reviews....With Destiny is not about not doing anything new, is about not doing anything better of what all of us have already played in other games.

Destiny is a mediocre game in almost every aspect. The only reason this game is selling so much is because Bungie and Activision put their names in the cover and the advertising.

I'm starting to worrying about this new trend of AAA games based in a simple mechanic filled with boring and repetitive content (like Watch Dogs) instead of focusing in memorable gameplay experiences. I'm not asking for something revolutionary, I'm just asking for something better than the games that came previously, not something that feels worse than games that I played 5 or 10 years ago.

Called it way before the reviews hit:

I wonder if a lot of AAA releases will suffer from reviewers because of their "lack of innovation."

It looks like I won't be getting this game. I think it has a ton of potential. I could see myself getting the GOTY edition, but my chances of getting this game keep plumitting with its ever changing review score.

Haven't read any reviews, but if Destiny is bashed for not bringing anything new to the table, that's fucking crazy. What's with that "every game needs to be something revolutionary" attitude lately?

Yeah I don't really understand that, if a game innovates, then great. As long as a game is expertly crafted, innovative or not I do not think should that affect the score, that being said Destiny is getting a lot of hate for other reasons.

I'm not surprised. This type of game reviews poorly, as a reviewer can't simply blow through and have a feel for what the game offers. It's made to be an ongoing experience, not a game where you can sit down and complete it in one day. I said as much a few months ago, that I thought reviewers who are only used to standard format titles would be harsh.

I also want to say that people being mad at the game because it was "over-hyped" is pathetic. If you bought into the hype without bothering to understand the game then that's your own fault. Don't get salty because of your own gullibility.

but COD never changes that reviewers are okay with that but not destiny? lol

the problem is that NO game is bringing anything new to the table. this time last generation, there were a bunch of games that were bringing new ideas to the table. assassins creed, bioschok, metroid prime 3, uncharted, cod4, mass effect.. all those games were more revolutionary than the games we are seeing these days. and if games that never care to push the boundaries get 9+ scores, then what is going to motivate them to do so? i think review scores should be harder on games. thats just my opinion. destiny deserves the scores its getting. but its not going to matter if everybody buys into the hype and gets it anyway. its a different time than it was 7 years ago. and im sad to see how things have changed in such a short time.

I think that people should not buy games at d1..
Maybe Destiny will be a fantastic game with more quests and other things.. but probably now is just a good game, nothing more.

I'm here also to improve my english, so tell me if you notice some errors.

Destiny brings nothing new 7.5/10. The same exact game you've played last year with new maps. Cal of Duty Whatever, 9/10.  Advanced Warfare is the first actual new game in the series, but it's just Call of Duty with boosting.  That's not new at all.  Go play Armored Core 4 and For Answer.  The exact same thing.
