Forums - Gaming - Could Bayonetta 2 Have A Shot At GOTY?

I wasnt talking about gamers, i was talking about journalists.

Also, sorry but GoW3 is not the best hack and slash game by a longshot. GoW is a very enjoyable game, but the responsiveness and depth of the game doesnt come close to Bayonetta, Devil May cry 3/4 and Ninja Gaiden 2. This is from a technical point of view of course. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

GOW does have a very deep combat system which you will see for yourself if you play the games on Hard or Very Hard Mode.

Also combat isn't everything in a hack and slash game. It is a lot, but not everything. Your statement completely ignores the accomplishments of GOW in terms of epic sense of scale, boss fights, intense atmosphere, combination of puzzles and combat and the deep narrative.

Bayonetta can still hold its own somewhat against GOW in terms of combat, but not in any of the other things I mentioned.

Have you played Bayonetta? The game has sections of racing game and 3D shooter. That is more than just the combat, despite the combat beeing better.

But, its clear we are in disagreement in all points so i think its alright for each one of us to hold to their opinion. :)

Let me correct you, there are no good third party multiplats. Because one way or another, the third parties always seem to give Wii U owners the short end of the stick.

it get´s the short stick because it has weak hardware, it´s normal that they run better on other platforms,

it´s the same with xbox one or the ps3, but people just accepted that they have worse hardware

and a good game with some performance issues is still a good game

I'm referring to back before the PS4 and X1 came out.

It's clear the majority don't care for precise or excessively deep combat as long as it's fun & accessible, thus GoW's popularity & acclaim. People need to realise that GoW's combat isn't designed to be as technical as those Japanese hack 'n' slash games.

GoW3 is pretty much objectively #1 in its genre. It's the most acclaimed and with over 5 million fans and sales well over 6 million units, it's significantly more popular than everything else. You don't have to agree personally but your opinion represents a tiny minority.

And no, Bayonetta 2 doesn't have a shot, games in this genre rarely win many GOTY awards, it might just win a couple if it's at least as good as the first.

The pacing of GOW and Bayonetta are completely different. God of Wars gameplay  lends itself to pace of the story. Bayonettas story barely makes sense and has outrageous action. Bayonetta will take a lot of work to be on God of War let alone the original Devil May Cry's level when it comes to the total package and Devil May Cry didn't have that good of a story to begin with.

By that logic you might aswell say that CoD is the best game ever. Popular and quality are not a 1 to 1 ratio.

true, is like saying that just because wii sports sold 82.5million units out of the 100million wii consoles it was an excelllent game
