Forums - Gaming - Why are games so boring now-a-days?

Did you try dark souls or demon's souls on your ps3 ? if not you missed the best games on ps3 in my opinion, you should at least try it if you're really bored of " classical " games.

What helps is to disconecct yourself from the internet and telephone etc. I also cant play games for more than a few minutes becasue I am so used to being bombarded with information be it TV smartphone or PC/inernet that my attention span is fucked up.

I know that when I am ill that I can play 3DS for like 20h straight but as soon as I come in contact with the web etc I constantly stop playing. On windows I always alt+tab to browse around etc.

The internet is the biggest time sink ever.

That being sad  no more internet for today what a waste of time  bye guys :)

Minecraft doesn't look remotely appealing to me.  As I've said before, I'm just going to stop for a while.  I don't find it to be enjoyable

Then your choice is best. Just take a long break. It is likely for the best.

I take long breaks once in a while myself, sometimes for a week or even a month.

I've had weeks when I didn't play..  Obviously it's not good enough.  I'm going to go for longer, actually.

It sounds like what you really need, is to play refreshing games, and in a refreshing experience at that.

Otherwise, you will forever get easily bored from doing your same old same old routine for playing games.

You don't have to believe me, but it is literally 100% true from what you have clearly been describing.

To be completely honest, I say good for you. Walking away from truly hardcore gaming (spending countless hours per week playing) and spending valuable time from your life on the internet is beneficial for you.

I aim to eventually do the same. I just run into the issue of my 5-year old loving Minecraft because her cousins love it as well, so I spend a few hours a week playing along with her. Although I don't mind it since I know she is having a fun time and is doing it with me. She is always so proud of herself when she builds something big and esquisite.

I do however aim to leave the internet, mainly forums, behind. My days here are numbered, no doubt.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

You sound like me in that I only used to use Playstation consoles for Fighting games. The only PS2 game I had which was not a fighting game was Maximo.

Nowadays the most popular games are shooters (first or third person), and open world games.

Creating games has become so expensive that less games are created per year, and the developers have to take less risks with creativity to make sure the game will be successful. And also, because of the great power of the consoles the temptation of making like a movie exists.

What kinds of games do you like? I pretty much only play platformers, fighting games, turn based strategy and turn based rpgs.

I will play anything as long as it's not a sports game, or FPS.  I like fighting games most of all, though.  I don't only use playstation consoles for figting games, I only use playstation consoles period.  I remember playing BlazBlue Calamity Trigger years ago on 360....  So much unintentional jumping and failure to do moves, combos, etc.  Same thing with MK9 and Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown.  Fighting games just aren't playable on 360, unless you have an arcade stick, which I don't use anyway.

I have enough trouble doing hypers in Marvel Vs. Capcom on PS3, that game has never been forgiving with controls.  At least it's easier in MvC2.  I cannot imagine how difficult it would be to pull of certain combos on 360, on that pad with my thumb sliding all over the place and sometimes off the disc entirely.

My thing with RPG games is that they just take too much time to play.  I've never actually finished any of them that I've ever played in my life.  I either get stuck, or just give up.  Oh, wait, no... I take that back, I beat Xenosaga I, on PS2.  That's the only one, though.  I really don't care if it's turn based, or something closer to Kingdom hearts, or anything in between.  An RPG is an RPG to me.

do you know GGPO? it is an internet website http://ggpo.net/ people use to play old fighting games from the 90s and early 2000s against other people online.

and it has no input lag at all

here some people playing samurai shodown 2

Dude, I was Administrator of God Weapon's Best of the Best Server from Kaillera, before there was a such thing as GGPO.  The only reason why I didn't switch was because GGPO didn't support 4P MvC online.  Kaillera was/is used by MAME, epsxe, Gens, Project 64, and so many other emulators.  Been in that scene and done that for years.

Sadly, the owner of God Weapon decided to axe the thing several years ago.  People moved to another server, and the admin there didn't give me administrative duties again, because I didn't bend the rules for him at GW.  So, I quit Kaillera altogether.  Couldn't go back as a regular user again and not have the ability to ban/mute, etc.

@Gilgamesh

No, Beyond has some pretty boring scenes in the middle of the game.  Still beat it 11 times.

And again, I'm just going to take a break from it for a while.  Obviously I'm bored with it anyway.  And no, retro games don't help.  I have a genesis with 47 games.  I'm not interested in playing those either.

God weapon that brought back some memories (weren't there more than one god weapon or am i remembering it wrong). I remember playing something like up to 12 players (swapping in out like in old arcade days) in last blade 2. I still use ggpo from time to time, the connection is too good to pass up on.

As for your problem darthmetallicube typed the answer already

Agree about getting hook once you force yourself the first few minutes.

But LOL, Majora's Mask 3D is coming out in 2015. Talking many years wasted for nothing. You'll just replying it in amazing high frame rate 3D. Plus the New 3DS has a more better screen then almost all high-end TVs.

Yeah, I think it'll be released for 3DS next year too. Never finished the original version so I have to do it now while it's not an inferior version :)

Yep.

Yeah, games now a days are all about graphics, 720p/1080p and 60FPS.
