Luigi? Mega Man? Lol.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Really? They named Link the 2nd most? I find that hard to believe. Especially as most non-gamers will likely know him as Zelda, if at all. I honestly do not believe that non-gamers know his name, seriously.

Link over Pikachu? That's crazy talk.

Wow, Link as #2 most named (or implied) video game character? That makes me feel a little happy inside.

Mario is obviously #1. Honestly, I doubt any of the other would even come close. Even Pikachu, which I thought would have been #2 instead of Link. I am surprised Pac-Man isn't higher (like in the top 3), I would have thought he was way better known. It would be a shame if such an iconic character would disappear from mainstream memory. The inclusion of Mega Man is somewhat surprising.

It's Nintendomination, with a couple of others for sure, but I guess that's because those characters have such distinctive features. They're all very recognizable. Uncharted sells many copies and is a popular game, but I think it's hard for regular people to remember Drake because he's just a 'regular guy'.

Nope. Pac Man is already too old and newer people don't even know what a Pac Man is, but everyone knows about Pokémon, even if they are not kids.

That's not even a little true. Pac Man is arguably as big a Mario.

This. I would venture to say most of the people that were around when Pac-Man was big are still around.

Decent list, but I'd argue that not everyone knows Lara Croft or Megaman. I didn't know about Megaman until I started getting into the internet a few years ago.

Link (or Zelda as a lot of people call him), Mario, Pikachu, Sonic and Pacman are recognised by everyone. Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Steve and Masterchief are figures too.

Slenderman and Flappybird are instantly recognisable nowadays too.

Wait, Mega Man is more known than characters such as Yoshi or Ghost from MW2?! My happiness has been fulfilled for the day.

how can link be so high ?

It's difficult to know what Halo is without knowing Master Chief. Besides, Halo is huge, it has a lot of tv adverts and even a movie. Halo also sells a tonne, so alot of non gamers probably knows someone that plays Halo and may have heard about him that way.

Adverts don't mention Master Chief, they just say 'Halo', I am a gamer and while I recognised him around when Halo 2 was out, I didn't even know the characters name (on Xbox, so wasn't like it was popular. :P).

I think this poll was done wrong. I know people now that don't play games but did when they were younger, this could include those to played a lot of Nintendo as a kid and some later who know MC. But I really don't believe Joe Public said MC at all. I mean my mum (a school teacher) could probably name the other 9.

Just don't buy that one at all.

Hmm, pie.

I would have guessed Pac Man would be near the top of the list.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash
