Forums - Sony - More than 5 million active PSPLUS subscribers on PS4

For someone usually so throuogh, you're being incredibly lazy. link

Can you say what the graph says?

I will link you the "HD" picture: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BfOAfpiIIAAlCeJ.jpg:orig

BTW the graph shows a flat number of new subsctiptions (not lifetime) per period (I guess month) that have a boost after PS4 launch.

Seems like (numbers from my ass because they didn't have a vertical scale):

Sep: ~100k new Plus subs
Oct: ~100k new Plus subs
Nov: ~180k new Plus subs
Dec: ~300k new Plus subs
Jan: ~350k new Plus subs

Edit - I read the article... DualShockers are assumption the vertical bar means 1 million on the flat numbers and so ~3 million at the end but they didn't know what the vertical scale means... neither was told at the conference.

DualShockers, you and others can be right but there is not evidence.

Damn, so there are likely more PS plus subscribers than there are X1 users. Not bad at all for a service that severly trailed Gold in the past

If we take into account quite a few of X360 users moving to PS4, then it's not just an increase in PS+ members, but also a decrease in XBL Gold subscribers.

It is not an accident that MS has not once since XOne's launch mentioned those numbers. They were very willing to give them out in the previous years...

There is no real evidence that X360 users are moving to PS4 in any numbers of significant. People keep saying this as if its fact.

The ONE poll out there simply asked what consoles the people had RIGHT NOW.  They would say X360 or Wii and then a PS4.  In this case.. ONLY 33% of that group had a WIi or X360 next to there PS4.    so THEN .. then number was thrown out that 33% of PS4 users never came from X360 or Wii.. But the poll NEVER asked if they had sold their PS3 when they bought their PS4.  So that number could be FAR FAR less. And the 33% figure included WIi users..    So again.    There is no real proof that X360 users of any signifcant amount now own PS4's.

On topic..    50% penetration with PS Plus is a little lower then I expected with moving to require it for ONLINE play.  I would figure that EARLY adopters of the PS4 would be bigtime gamers and more likely play online (and want free games) and or already had PS Plus for their PS3/Vita. I already had PS Plus when I bought my PS4.  Just surpisingly low in my eyes..

Why surprisingly low? Isn't it around the same with Gold to 360 owners?

You are talking Xbox Live over 7 years with 80 million consoles and a TON of casual gamers...

My point was most people who buy a console in the first 10 months a release are pretty heavy gamers.. so surprsied they arent playing online..

It is obvious that 53 million mentioned is the number of SEN accounts, so that would include PS3/4/Vita users, Music and Video users, and SOE online PC games accounts....
PS+ users on PS3 were probably just above a million, which makes sense. It was a non-essential service giving away digital downloads. Sure, it was good value, but I doubt many casual owners took advantage of it.

SOE, totally forgot. With all the Planetside and DC Universe gamers I can see where that 53 comes from

The poll was legit, you can downplay it as much as you want. I believe those numbers, and there will be more of those ex 360 and Wii users buying the superior console offering the best and widest variety games available. It is just common sense and those people will be making a prudent and sensible purchase decision, as will be evident in the coming months.

We will see when, if ever, MS dares to release their figures where their users are. Many people switched consoles due to numerous reasons.

Good news.

Interpret it as how you will.

How about this? http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/01/30/playstation-plus-subscribers-tripled-since-ps4-launch/

PS4 launch has caused the numbers to triple. If 5 million PS4 owners have PS+, probably less than that back in January, and a fair chunk of them probably have a PS3 or Vita as well and may have had PS+ before, then PS+ numbers would have been an absolute maximum of 2.5 million before PS4.

Read your own link.

Is it based on?

One simple cases that disprove your evidences:

Plus new subscriptions on last month: 100k new subscription
Plus new subscriptions after PS4 launch: 190k new subsctiption

90% increase after PS4 launch.

lol

The lifetime can be any number because the % are not related to lifetime Plus users but the increased over previous new subsctiptions.

This is a graph of cumulative subscribers (number of subscriptions). If they meant number of new subcriptions they would have said so.

I didn't say the poll wasn't legit..  Just saying.. It in NO way proves a SINGLE X360 owner switched to PS4.  Not one single person.. Because the question asked WHAT consoles they had right at the moment..   If someone said X360 and PS4..   or Wii and PS4..    all it told was what people who owned a PS4 also owned a Wii or X360..  NOT THAT THEY SWITCHED CONSOLES.   Because they could have EASILY SOLD THEIR PS3 and purchased their PS4. I sold my X360 when I got my X1. I didn't sell my PS3 cause I used it for Blu-Ray on another TV.   But again.. the pull did NOT prove that people switched to a NEW console from X360/Wii..  and again.. even if SOME of those 33% did.. We don't know how mnay were Wii owners or X360..  so again..   We do NOT have all the information to make the claim that ANY X360 or WIi owners converted to PS4..      and also.. the X1 and PS4 have been out for LESS then 10 months..   we can't make any sort of sweeping judgment claims about this generation in 10 months..  either way/

Well PS4 appeals to the masses. It's selling like hotcakes because casuals are buying it too.
