I can't believe people still repeat this bullshit. Mario kart isn't front loaded, it has ALREADY sold 2.5m+ and that number will be multiplied by at least 4 or 5.
Smash brothers will obviously have a big impact and will have great legs as usual.

Bayonetta? Bayonetta only sold around 2 - 3 million lifetime on both xbox 360 and ps3 when they had a install base of 100 million combine. You really think it's going to do great on the Wii U? |
everything points to bayonetta 2 doing great. notice that it's pre orders in US are higher than twice the combined pre orders of bayonetta on ps360?

you are in denial.
Smash is a big system seller as well but certainly not as big as MK8.
lol man the arguments people try to use to downplay the stuff Nintendo does is mind blowing

Mk is more of a casual game and there were a LOT more casual players on the Wii than there were hardcore players. Becuase of this, and because smash is more appealing to hc gamers, I think it will sell better than mk8 LTD. |
mario kart, casual? lmfao. try again.
| DarkRPGamer007 said: Look at the GameCube. Smash sold more than Mario Kart because more hardcore fans bought the GameCube. The Wii had Mario Kart sell significantly more than Smash, but that had a lot of casuals on it. Wii U now is following the steps of the GameCube attracting the hard core fans of Nintendo, and Smash will definitely get a lot of people on it |
Which means SSB will help Wii U to reach GC level of sales. It won't help Wii U reach much beyond that. Because low 20 million is the hard core nintendo fanbase. Arguably if a game was going to help Wii U sell significantly more than GC it would be MK8 not SSB. And this is why:
Mk on GC sold just under 7 million, it sold 34 million on Wii. That's almost a 5x increase, more or less in line with the hardware increase, in fact it is almost exactly in line with the hardware increase. So if there was ever a games that would draw Wii owners into the new generation it's MK.
SSB on GC sold just over 7 million, on Wii it sold about 12.5 million. That's a 1.8x increase, no where near the hardware increase. This means SSB has very limited appeal outside the core nintendo fanbase who are already committed to Wii U just as they were already committed to GC. The fact of the matter is the SSB system selling effect it pretty much already factored in to the calculation that Wii U is headed for a sub-30 million generation.
People are using hardcore and casual wrongly here. MK is a core game that appealed to the large casual fanbase on Wii. SSB is no more core than MK but it has much less appeal to the casual audience.
SSB is a major title for this year and it will help give Wii U a good level of holiday sales. But it's not Wii U's secret sauce.

I think it will boost Wii U sales in its first month on the market, a lot of people are waiting for smash to buy a Wii U, but after that it won't raise sales at all really. It will be hard to prove either way if it launches in November or December.
Smash will be a system seller, just like Brawl was.
Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.
Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash
MK is a system seller. SSB is not. I thought this was known long ago. That game is generally picked up by the established community. Sure some systems will get pushed when it comes out but it wont be very much. MK didnt push many systems so there is a big, big problem at Nintendo right now. That should've been panic time and I don't know why some arent. Zelda wont do very much. Nintendos library growing will be the seller of the Wii U in my opinion this gen.
Third party is the problem and without it, it will sell worse than the Gamecube. No one listens when I say it, but its the truth. Nintendo need to stop ignoring the call of the third parties because third parties have proven that they dont need Nintendo any longer. They would love to have them but they wont hold their games back for Nintendo like Nintendo used to put them through in the old days.
