MK is a system seller. SSB is not. I thought this was known long ago. That game is generally picked up by the established community. Sure some systems will get pushed when it comes out but it wont be very much. MK didnt push many systems so there is a big, big problem at Nintendo right now. That should've been panic time and I don't know why some arent. Zelda wont do very much. Nintendos library growing will be the seller of the Wii U in my opinion this gen.

Third party is the problem and without it, it will sell worse than the Gamecube.

SSB will easily push alot more consoles than mk8, i'll be happy to remind you all

I'm confident that you are a bigger fan of Nintendo than I. I'll still happily make a bet with you right now that it wont. With the DS being out there it will cannibalize the sales for those who don't have Wii U's. I have friends who have the DS who are completely fine with skipping over the Wii U.

I don't feel I can add much to this argument, aside from this.

Some people seem to be operating under the narrative that no games will ever move Wii U units (and when they do they didn't move enough) and apply strange logic to Nintendo consoles than others (anyone interested in Wii U bought one the moment a Mario game was available, yet not every XBox One fan bought a console day one for Call of Duty).

My advice is to not argue with such people. It's not like Smash will sell better based on the strength of your argument. The numbers will come out and tell the story. Till the proper time to gloat, you can probably find more enjoyable uses for your time.

COD isnt an exclusive seller to one platform. Halo sells to one platform being the Xbox. COD helps sell both Sony and Microsoft platforms.

No bet, i'll just bring this thread up, even if im wrong (i got 3 ongoing bets, cant accept anymore!).

As for 3DS, i dont think it'll cannibalize wiiu sales. How can it be proved? Wait and see sales of the WiiU version, if it sells over 4-5mil copies, then 3ds didn't cannibalize sales. 3DS will outsell wiiu smash based on 2 reasons.

1, Higher Userbase (major role in it)

2. With 3DS version, everybody needs their own copy vs wiiu with extra controllers. This game is huge on local multiplyer. Myself im buying 3 copies of Smash 3ds vs 1 copy of smash U :)

Around the Network

Nintendo fans like Mario Kart, and most of the more die hard Nintendo fans owned a Wii U already.

Super Smash Bros interests a larger group of people, not just Nintendo fans. All the casual fighting game fans and the die hard fighting game fans. Smash Bros is simple game to pick up and play that anyone who is a lower level of skill is going to be good except when playing against the pro level players.

Mario Kart is also a system seller, but it's imo the kind of game you buy because you have the system. Super Smash Bros is more of a system seller.

2D mario is another example. Its like (avg person) you dont buy a wiiu for mk/2D mario, buttttttt you buy mk/2D mario when you get a wiiu.

Pls tell me that made sense!!!
