Smart.. like the iPad they can continue the 3DS brand for years.. instead of dropping in price they can release a new one every few years..

Anybody else finding the name 'New 3DS' dumb? Let me explain: lets say a 10 year old kid has an older version of the 3DS or 2DS, and sees a game he wants to buy. However, this game is a New 3DS exclusive because of the improved CPU. This kid or his parents can easily make the mistake of buying the game without knowing this, thus buying a game which is completely unplayable. IMO, the '3DS' part should have been removed from the name.

Haha yeah would be smart although a new naming convention would need to be made. I dont think they will though, some gamers dont get this stuff =P

I'll prolly upgrade as well. I have the 3DS XL but i like the IQ on the 2DS much better (largely cause of the smaller screen size). I felt the original 3DS looked horrendous, so i will most likely go for the "New Nintendo 3DS" and not the XL version whenever it hits the western market.
