Forums - Nintendo - Can Smash DLC be done right? If so, how?

So... you think 15 dollars for 24 characters and 8 stages would be a fair deal? That's less than 50 cents per item not including the alternate costumes. That would be an insanely good deal, but a bit unrealistic. I'm aware of the price of the Mario Kart DLC, but creating a Mario Kart character or Kart would be considerably less work than a Smash character. All of the balancing necessary would make the Smash stuff a bit more costly in all likelyhood.

I think 10 bucks for about 4 characters and 2 or 3 stages would be fair. 15 for 6-8 characters and 5-6 stages would also be fine.

after seeing how mario kart 8 is being treated with DLC, i think its a shoe in smash will get it. the MOST we'll see is 6 characters, and ports of the stages from both systems to the other, and whatever rebalance will be neccessary.

for $12?!?

$12/$60 = 0.2

0.2 * 35 characters in SSBB = 7
0.2 * 41 stages in SSBB = 8.2

if you think you anything less than 24 additional characters is a ripoff than you mad.

That's not how Mario Kart 8 handled it.

4 characters (max) and probably 3 new stages.

I think smash is a much more complex game when it comes to characters so I wouldnt expect too much..as for stages thats pretty easy when compared to MK8. as for some sort of other content I dont know yet..

The lowest I would go for new new characters is like $8 for 8 characters, like 4 stages, and like 8 alternate costumes. Two packs with both for $12, just like with Mario Kart 8 would be fine. Anything less for more is a ripoff to me.

for reference, PSASBR had 2characters+1 stage for $10. Thats with a roster of 20 to begin with, as ssb4 will have over 50 characters in this game.

Edit: it was $5, not too bad!

And I think that's critically over priced. I've literally never seen a fighting game/party brawler do DLC right.

I think your Like the only one that thinks [insert $ + #Characters] is a rip off.

Also your comparison is only to that of MK8, which is probably the best dlc from a content + money view (another good dlc was definitely NSLU for $20).

Why not compare all dlcs, and as JW pointed out, there is a difference between MK8+SSB (for the characters).

The thing is, without DLC, SSB has always had a ton of content, it already feels like dlc is already implemented in the game. SSB4 was only suppose to have 40-45 characters in the game to begin with as Sakurai stated many cuts will follow as his priority was to make a balanced game first.

That said, we got so much already and i mean no offense to you, but your the only one that seems to think we're all going to get ripped off, when i can already tell you that melee/brawl players would of paid $20-$30 just for 2-5 characters to be put in the game. Thisis SSB the most iconic roster of any game of all time!!!
