That's an already falsified myth. The vast majority of what you get out of life is pre-subscribed to you at birth due to social conditions, culture, and hierarchy.
"What you put into it" only nudges that scenario in all but the most lottery-like levels of lucky scenarios.
I'm not saying that putting in effort and good ethics isn't good... That positive nudge and especially that social contribution are very important. But the idea that people get what they deserve is patently false in our society.

I believe the human condition can overcome nearly anything thrust at it. Social conditions, culture, lack of hierarchy, none of that will determine shit. A human being growing up in hellest of hells can get out if they want it bad enough. You, and only you, will decide the life you live.
There are two types of people. The types that conditionally try and the types and won't stop, regardless of said conditions. The first group will achieve nothing. The second group will achieve something.
