Will all of them be terribly different? Because they can make as many planets as they want, but if you're constantly going to see the same assets it's going to get boring rather quickly, I'd assume?

Yah, they'll probably just use salt or some other crappy fuel so u have to collect a whole bunch

I suspect it will be like Galacticraft. You find some sort of carbon-based combustible fuel, process it, and use it to propel. The planets will probably be very similar too after a few tens of itterations.

They said 4000 years to cross their universe or so, right (which I presume has to be done with subluminal speeds... wouldn't want to arrive before you left, after all)? Then those 2^64 units are crammed together in some utterly impossible orbital configurations and proximities (probably not unlike how a solar system map will show you the planets as being equally spaced... to which end the night/day sky Earth and Mars would be nothing more than the Sun and Jupiter covering every viewable solid angle). They should have a "enable physics" check box that causes the entire universe to spiral out of control, planets colliding everywhich way, solar systems ripping each other apart, stars colliding and blowing up.

Thing is these are planet sized planets. So if you have time to planet hop and you get tired of repition, then you've clearly overlooked 90% of the planets your "exploring"

Aren't all assets procedurally generated? Though this means that among the bajillion planets, two of them might differ by the color of some reptile's left ear, or the exact measurements of a particular hill.

Ah, the wonders of procedurally generated scenery. I guess if Minecraft worked, why not... maybe the assets will be different enough among the first hundred or so planets, even if they are being made by, haha, Hello Games.

I think they're undertracked.
