I'll prefer it as a movie. Give me RE4 or Ratchet and Clank to play.

LOL. Those games don't come close to the gameplay in TLOU, but they are good.

You're not wrong: those publications played for the narrative. I play games for the gameplay which is the strength of video games as opposed to films. TLoU would have made a better film.

I hate people trying to spread this rumor about TLoU.  TLoU is a gameplay game.  It has cinematic moments in between fairly large areas with groups of enemies that you can tackle with a variety of strategies.  Play on survivor or grounded then tell me the game doesn't have gameplay.  The story of survival and hopelessness feeds into the gameplay where you have to scrounge around and improvise in the middle of firefights.  It's a rush choking someone out PRAYING their friend won't walk around the corner in time to see you because you only have 3 bullets left.  Or trying to avoid the runners eyes as their clicker friends are waiting to bite your throat out if you make a peep.

TLoU received those great scores because it had GREAT gameplay to compliment the great story.  It appealed to old and new school gamers.  Not everyone is going to love it and that's fine but don't throw out totally unjustified criticism.  Didn't like the story?  Fine.  Didn't like the gameplay mechanics?  Fine.  Don't say it was just a film.  That MIGHT be a legitimate criticism for Beyond 2 Souls or Alan Wake or Heavy Rain (though I don't think so because your actions still effect the outcome and the control you do gets you immersed like a movie never would) but not for TLoU.

The story was great but the gameplay shown at E3 was NOT what was packaged into the game.

Did you expect a game in alpha or pre-alpha to not go through any changes until release?

I did. Read back. It's not like he's saying anything other haters have not said. I let him know my opinion by disliking it as well.

Well I dislike your opinion!

See how constructive that was?

It constructes your dislike for any opinion other than yours beautifully. The whole industry and millions of fans are blind, only you and a select elite group see things for how they are if the hate to be taken seriously.

The best game of all time? Resident Evil 4 had nothing to do with this.

TLOU is the RE4 of the 7th Gen.

Is it fuck.

Both Breathed life into the survival horror genre, both considered amongst the best games of their generations, both raised the bar in what could be achieved in a 3rd person game using fine tuned gameplay mechanics whilst having an excellent narrative. Heck, both even are escort missions with Leon and Ashley and Joel and Ellie.

I always felt RE4's gameplay was a bigger jump from previous REs than TLoU was from the Uncharteds. As for escort mechanics, RE4 trumps TLoU considering Ellie is invisible in TLoU.

Like what?

You shouldn't let your expectations affect your final opinion of the game though. Maybe you just got too hyped

I got FAR more than I was shown. The words 'blown away' don't come close to express how I felt during my 7 playthroughs.

I'm learning to expect disappointment nowadays.
