That whole PC Defense? Yah that's bullshit.

I don't give a damn if A( they are a small dev and B( they don't have the money or whatever. When that dev who made that golf game said 1080 on PS4 and 900 on XB1, the majority of comments where that it was "Bad Optimization", you mean to tell me its ok because CD is small and PC focused?

Please.

My issue is that they have to make such a big fucking deal about not utilizing the graphical capabilities of each console, cause lord knows the PS4/XB1 are going to struggle with the game anyway. Why did they have to say that stupid statement. Why couldn't they just do whatever they want and release the game?

The worst thing about arguing with people on this site, is that they always, always, ALWAYS jump to conclusions about the person they are argueing Why do you think I'm am so concerned with the PS4 being optimized or not. No, that is not the problem here, they could've made it run like ass and I wouldn't care at all. But the fact that they felt the need to explicitly say, oh "we are not aiming to develop special graphical features for any of them" fuck that. Is that supposed to be a good thing?

Its a stupid statement, and all this unnescessary justification for it is elitist at best and downright childish at worse.

That's like having a kid whose good at reading and a kid whose good at math, having them take the SATs, and saying, that math section? Yah, that doesn't matter.

Wow. You really seem to think that gamers are entitled to recieving boatloads of money thrown into optomizing their console of preference.

And you really love jumping to conclusions. This "Why did they have to say that stupid statement. Why couldn't they just do whatever they want and release the game?" is what I said, followed by " they could've made it run like ass and I wouldn't care at all."

Hint: This is the real world. CD Projekt does not have infinite money vaults to make everyone happy. They are not that big of a dev. If you want them to optomize for the PS4, make sure that the PS4 version of the game significantly does better than the PC, so they focus on it instead, or dig into your own wallet and pay them to optomize for your console, if you have that kind of money lying around.

Devs don't have endless wallets. Please.

If you are going argue against me, actually address my points and don't argue with the imaginary me figmented by your imagination.

I have no issue with what they are doing, I'm annoyed they felt the need to call attention to it. Is it so hard to not say this?

So, it's now wrong for a dev to be transparent with their fans, is that what you're trying to say?

I find it refreshing that devs like CD Project are honest with their fans, instead of just giving roundabout statements like "we will do the best we can with each console" only to have that debunked when the game comes out.

Why not full transparency.

They never said, oh we don't have any money to prioritize one console over another, they said we want to provide the best possible experience. That's not transparency, that is just PR.

Furthermore, how is it "we will do the best we can with each console"roundabout, what issue are they skirting around. and how exactly is it debunked?

You mean to tell me that the amount of effort a dev puts in a game can be "debunked" by outside observers after the game releases? intresting. Tell me all about it.

I have no comment other than the amount of shit people pile on Sony/Microsoft when Digital Foundry does an analysis and they find out that the dev didn't get everything perfect.

That is all, I'm done here.

Cya.

There is a difference between what a dev does and what a dev says they can do. DF says nothing about whether or not a dev can do more. That determination is up to armchair and internet ceos who can psychically tell the difference between lazy devs and devs who had a really hard time.

I don't see the problem here. As people say, this is a PC game first, console second.

This. Also we should consider that PS4 and XBOne are equipped with mid-range APUs customised and optimised in different ways to squeeze some more power out of them compared to comparable APUs in general purpose devices like a PC, but even with those refinements, in every game developed on PC as main platform a mid-high end PC will beat them, so it would make little sense to fine tune the game in TWO different ways to achieve little more than what can already be done thanks to the standard tweakings available in almost all the game engines used on PC games. That phrase is either stating the obvious or some gibberish to avoid pissing off one of the user bases making it feel neglected, or both things. Performances will be obviously different due to different computing power, but the dev wants to avoid making feel the gamers on the weakest platform as if they were given a back seat. BTW that phrase is just for a minority of gamers, the majority won't even notice it, if they'll read it at all, and it will be happy of the performance of the platform they chose without minding what other platforms can do.

Yeah they dont have endless wallets but you seem to be forgetting that it will sell more copies at a higher price on consoles than it will on PC... just like most action adventure games do.

The only time it will sell more COPIES is when its £3 in a steam sale, but that still wont mean its generated more money.

I'm sick and tired of people who want resources gained from consoles to be poured into PC gaming when most PC gamers cant even play the game at the highest graphics settings.

This parity obsession with some fans is ludicrous and quite conspiratorial, just give it up already. They are obviously talking about PC as the lead platform.

But they don't need to pour resources into PC gaming: PC games almost always use scalable engines, and development on it is long established and very straightforward, so developing on it first, the game has just to be scaled down to fit within console capabilities. This gen it's a lot easier too, as besides using PC-like architecture, at last consoles have more than enough RAM, and their computing power compares well with gaming PC of very few years ago or current general purpose ones (probably pure CPU and GPU power compared even better last gen, but they couldn't use it completely on the largest games due to lack of RAM). But in the end all this means that making a game that fully uses PC power, when available, comes at a lower cost than tweaking it to fully use consoles customised CPUs, GPUs or APUs and auxiliary chips beyond what can be done using their standard libraries provided with the dev kits, and using superior PC power not completely with specific optimisations, but just partially, setting the engine to the max, comes almost for free. This means also that as this gen matures and console producers refine their system libraries, you'll see better performances in console games even without game devs doing special tweakings for them.
This obviously applies to 3rd party multiplats, you can expect better results, now and in future, from exclusive games, both 1st and 3rd party ones.

That's a pretty baseless satement considering Witcher is a PC franchise -_-
