Forums - Gaming - Shu Yoshida: Sony to focus on PS4 at TGS

Oh no, I agree with you, this issue isn't getting nearly enough attention. I still love PlayStation and Sony products, but I've lost quite a bit of respect for them after this whole fiasco.

I'm with you.  I bought a Vita day one and I'm pretty disappointed.

People seem to think I'm bashing the PS4 for no reason when I say it has no games, but it's not the PS4, it's Sony.  Every console Sony has released they gave limited support for a good year to two years.  They even said it straight up that the reason why developers would support them is because they're Sony, and look what happened after that with the PS3?  They did it again with the Vita, thinking developers would just flock to support the system and offered little support of their own.  Then yet again with the PS4.  The PS4 is succeeding  without this support, but my complaints are because I'm disappointed with how things are being ran.  The exact same thing could have happened with the PS4 that happened with the Vita(like you said,) and because it's selling well, people just ignore Sony's piss poor management.

The PS4 is not too relevant in Japan, so of course they're going to focus on the PS4 at TGS!

The Vita isn't too relevant in the US or Europe.  Where's Vita's focus?

The Vita is a lost cause in America and Europe though.. The PS4 can actually start selling well in Japan!

Why don't they discontinue the Vita? They clearly don't care about it and its not selling.

Because it still sells a lot of software and continues to get new games announced for it.

When you refer to "it", do you mean PSVita, or PlayStation TV?

If had bought a PlayStation Vita I would not support Sony anymore!!! And I really don't understand why no one does complain about how sony is treating their PlayStation Vita consumers!!! If Nintendo or Microsoft would do that then everone would rant over the internet, but when Sony does it everything is okay!!! Sony Fanboys must be ...... as hell!!!

Most Sony fans don't own a Vita, and they don't care. If they did the Vita would have been doing much better.

I own one and feel its been an ok purchase, and have kept it for PS Now.

Can you please explain me why you are not angry about Sony? I mean you spend so much money on it and even Sony does not support it in any way or even is trying to make games for your PlayStation Vita?

Best gaming system I've owned in years. It's a shame no one was interested in quality portable gaming meaning it wasn't viable Sony continuing to release AAA titles on it. That said, 2014 has been the best year for it for software by far inspite of it's poor sales outside Japan and to be honest it's more than matching any other system this year as far as software goes. I can't think of any system that's having a better 2014 overall. A 400 strong library in the west by 2015 is more than enough for me to justify the £250. It's just a shame it signalled the death knell of portable AAA gaming without a streamed signal.

They're the same platform, and considering they share the same online store and catridge media, I'm not sure you can separate the two. I also didn't mention hardware though.

They actually have some ambition for the PS4 in Japan, they don't for the Vita outside of Japan. Besides, they might to have some of their big japanese games to do well outside of Japan too and for that they gotta go with the PS4.

Yes, don't mention the hardware. That's the elephant in the room.
