Why don't they discontinue the Vita? They clearly don't care about it and its not selling.

It's almost certainly selling at a profit, and they're getting money from memory cards and third party software sales. What reason is there for them to discontinue it?

How do you know? Including marketing costs, I doubt its profitable. Last year, Sony's game division reported a full year profit of just $18m. People said that the small profit was mainly because of Vita losses since the PS3 would have been very profitable by then. This year again, the division reported a loss of $78m. That loss is with PS plus subscirptions increasing substantially, PS4 reportedly being sold at a profit, and of course PS3 being sold at a profit. Since there would be very little research and development costs, the main culprit for the losses must be the Vita.

If had bought a PlayStation Vita I would not support Sony anymore!!! And I really don't understand why no one does complain about how sony is treating their PlayStation Vita consumers!!! If Nintendo or Microsoft would do that then everone would rant over the internet, but when Sony does it everything is okay!!! Sony Fanboys must be ...... as hell!!!

Because most people on the internet have PS4s and don't give a shit if the PS Vita crowd suffers. Just looking at this thread, there are a couple of insensitive comments from PS4 owners on the Vita.

Seriously, if Sony just up and stopped supporting the PS4, I wonder how a lot of these people would feel. Imagine spending $200+ on a console and having the company stop supporting it after just 2 years. It's pathetic, and the good will from the PS4 allows Sony to get away with it for the most part.

But thats the point, I would not support a company who stops their support for their own hardware after 2 years ;) And thats why I don't understand why everyone is okay with it, I mean if a games is not 1080p and 60fps than the world burns, but when a company does not support their own hardware and akt like it doesen't exist then everything is okay!!!

Oh no, I agree with you, this issue isn't getting nearly enough attention. I still love PlayStation and Sony products, but I've lost quite a bit of respect for them after this whole fiasco.

Who said i know? I'm saying it's very likely given its current price based on the technology it uses. And what marketing costs? Lol. The only console racking up marketing costs is the PS4. It also was selling at a loss until recently.
I don't know who these "people" are that told you these things, but it's pretty baseless unless those people are Sony employees. And your attempt to narrow down the "culprit" neglects to take a lot into consideration. You do know that companies have these expenses called employees, right?

It could be argued that they are simply using the strategy of "managed decline", since it would piss a lot of people off if they killed it quickly.

A focus doesnt mean there wont be a fair amount of announcements for Vita. Plus most of Vita's big titles in Japan are 3rd party anyway.

Better. I wish they would stop with the Vita completely and concentrate their efforts on the PS4. Handheld gaming is not worth it.

Why is this news? It's not like anyone thought they'd talk about the Vita.

Not surprising. The Vita is doing well in Japan whereas the PS4 has not.

The Vita might not get a lot of love in their conferences but from articles I've read they say the Vita does have a lot of floor presence. Hopefully the Japanese games there get localized.

Ohh is game development free now ? majority of their studios have been burning through millions in dev costs while they not announced anything yet.

For all their studios teams they only released two big titles, Killzone and Infamous.  Tiny profits on hardware is not erasing massive development costs of World wide studios.  They need to drop some big sellers to do that.
