It's almost certainly selling at a profit, and they're getting money from memory cards and third party software sales. What reason is there for them to discontinue it? |
How do you know? Including marketing costs, I doubt its profitable. Last year, Sony's game division reported a full year profit of just $18m. People said that the small profit was mainly because of Vita losses since the PS3 would have been very profitable by then. This year again, the division reported a loss of $78m. That loss is with PS plus subscirptions increasing substantially, PS4 reportedly being sold at a profit, and of course PS3 being sold at a profit. Since there would be very little research and development costs, the main culprit for the losses must be the Vita.
