The term "indie" needs to die.
First of all, it's a misnomer. "Independent" would be any studio not owned by a publisher. Insomniac is independent, for example.
Second, many "indie" studios of today are run by industry veterans with solid financial backing and a fair number of employees. Some of them are closer to the bigger developers than they are to the two person teams making games in their basements.
Finally, judging games by arbitrary labels is silly. I look at the game and decide based ON THE GAME ITSELF whether or not I want to play it, not on the size of the studio. I wish we could get over this, "that looks good but is it indie?" nonsense.
