Forums - Gaming - New fantastic Rime trailer : This is an indie game...Right ?

Beautiful game. Can't wait.

I would call it indie because it kinda has that indie vibe, although it's a very ambitious game.

Ryse is a AAA title period. It has a multiplayer mode outside the campaign and even if it didn't, it still qualifies as AAA title when its made by a major studio with a big pool of people. Indies are made by small teams. This was not.

Because it's short. 5 bucks says you can blast through this in less than 3h.

it is? I though it was open world...

Seems like a pretty small open world. Doubt there will be much exploring. Seems to be a quite straight forward puzzle adventure game.

You base that on a trailer, one that shows several different environments at that?

Puzzles aren't "straight forward" btw. They often require exploring.

What is the difference between indie and not indie already ?

This looks great and I will buy it, whereas I have no interest in games like Uncharted (don't like the genre). But let's be real. Could an actual indie developer afford to do Uncharted graphics? They're nice but not very realistic.

I'm kinda hopeful some of the bigger "indie" titles like this will actually start getting small physical print runs. Sony can manage it for Freedom Wars (which won't sell much) and InFAMOUS: First Light (which is DLC). I'm sure they can manage it with stuff like this too, and it gets them a bit more exposure.

I would LOVE that. I hate that I can't own physical copies of some of my favorite small-budget, small-studio games.

@OP: Rime looks promising, but I'm not sold just yet. I want to see more and know more. I've been burned in the past by games with amazing art and music that fall short in the gameplay department.

Rime isn't an indie because its first party.  Source = the guy said it in the conference

Published by Sony, true, but the dev is independent and it started out as just an indie
