This thing is going to outsell both in 1 day lol.

I'm optimistic about amiibo, but we still need to learn more about them before we can say their impact.
While a full amiibo game would be a good starting point, it's the cross-game feature that sounds like something new and that would only work for Nintendo.

SSB WiiU will sell no less than 4mil lifetime (and then there is SSB 3DS im not taking into account) and there will be over 4mil Amiibos sold at the VERY VERY VERY Least (4mil if the avg is 1 amiibo sold for every copy of wiiu which is obviously going to be a much bigger avg). 4mil amiibos sold = $60mil (i think each amiibo will be about $20 but i'll go with $15) Im thinking avg will be alot more than that, so lets say 30mil amiibos sold then it be = $450mil. Now wat the game potentially can sell is alot of amiibos shared between both wiiu+3ds (which will feat over 40 characters=40 amiibos) So lets say if it did sell 80mil amiibos, thats $1.2bil O.o I think its going to be very successful, many will try to get all the amiibos and not only that, it'll work with the already huge MK8 and other games |
But that's assuming that everyone who buys SSB will also buy Amiibos. I doubt it'll have that much of an attach rate. I'll use the PS Move analogy by pointing out that's like saying everyone who bought a PS3 title that supported Move also bought the Move itself, and we already know that's not the case. Unless Nintendo has gone the money hatting route, the Amiibos won't be an essential part of the exeperience, and therefor people will have less reason to buy them. It's like good DLC. Good to have to expand your experience, but everybody's gonna buy it.
At least in the very end, I don't expect amiibo to push a lot of hardware. It'll help Nintendos bottom line, yes, But people will not buy a Wii U Because you can use amiibo in some small parts of particular games.

Of course its opinionated, but Mark My Words, its going to sell over 10mil at least
Im not saying everybody will buy them cuz not everybody will. But your missing the fact that the people who do will buy more than 1. How many people will collect 5? 10? Over 40? Just the crazy people who buy it for a collection (40+) will put that avg up from 1copy=1amiibo sold.
Somebody buying 10 copies will spend over $150. And there will be many. Ithink Amiibo's can do 50mil+, but of course i'll have to wait and see. I do kno though it'll do well finically for Nintendo.
Difference with your PS Move comparison is that each PS3 needs just 1 (if you wanted it). Compare that to controllers, not fair comparison right
Thats even more when you compare SSB copies sold to Amiibos!!!

It is very optimistic, and the whole thing is a pretty cool concept, I can't lie. But I can't see it being anywhere near as successful as Skylanders. We'll have to wait and see.
I don't really think it will do as good as some people say. The majority of people that like these kind of things are young kids, which are mostly playing Smartphone games.

how about the 3-5mil people buying ssb wiiu? how about the 5mil+ buying ssb 3ds? :)

Well Activision made like $3 billion off Skylanders, by targeting young kids. Apparently they don't just play smartphone games.
