People noticed the ways the engine was held back by previous gens. I remember seeing threads about people complaining about it being held back.

And it might not look bad, but it would pale in comparison to an AC developed ground-up for current-gen systems. People would complain and ask why Rogue sucks so much compared to Unity, when they are supposed to appeal to two different groups.

Who knows, we'll probably see a remastered version of Rogue down the road anyway.

From the ground up, huh.

Anvil is being used in ways that would have been impossible on the previous generation. It has been improved for the current gen.

"Ugh I want companies to stop making games for last gen so that current gen games can really be focused on and have great graphics"

*Ubisoft makes 2 different games for each gen consoles, essentially solving that problem*

"Ugh what a cash grab, can't believe they made two games at the same time"

Exactly what it sounds like to me. People just can't be satisfied.

I didn't know there was gonna be 2 of them. Is it the same game? If it's two separate games, I don't get why anyone is bitching about it.

Where did you get the gif in your sig!? :O

It's perfect!

"A lot of people are really hating on the new Assassins' Creed games because Ubisoft is releasing 2 of them, one exclusive for each gen. I've noticed that a lot of the same people are ardent suporters of remasters like TLOU:R. Isn't it a bit hypocritical to criticize Ubisoft in this case?"

can you please linkme to the thread people is hating on assasins creed ?show some examples please.

There are people in this thread alone that are pissed about Rogue. God speed.

That doesn't really hit the point though. Of course it would be hard to port Unity backwards but it's far from hard to port from last gen, which has been done successfully before.

It's the same engine. All they've done with Unity is switch on a few features that wouldn't be possible on last gen. It's nothing groundbreaking and it certainly doesn't seem to be optimized for next gen seeing how it's running code from well before this gen.

But back to Rougue. There is no technical reason not to port Rogue to next gen. I can only think of 2 things why they've done it. Time/money constraint or the fear of a backlash of releasing two games simultaneously on the same system. Well you know how stupid gamers are.  They love to complain about too many games.

I would put it to the fear of backlash (not sure if you were being sarcastic about it, but ah well).

Either way, there's almost a sure chance that there'll be a remastered edition for everyone to enjoy once the hype for both games dies out a bit.

1 for each.

Gamers love to complaint about everything, which is probably why Rogue isn't cross gen, at least for now, I wouldn't pay them any attention though.
