Yes, better is better.  Only if better is what you were told and not what you experience.

I will go with a car analogy.  When discussing sports cars, many people may tell you that a Ferrari is "Better" than a Lamborghini.  Now, the people who say that can possibly come up with dozens of technical reasons to think so.  And, those reasons may be technically correct.  But, when you sit in the seat of both of them and drive around, you will not find those differences.  The reason is that unless your going fast enough in the right a=exact set of circumstances, the differences are imperceptible.

That was the real point of the OP.  That the actual differences while actually playing the more recent versions of the multiplats shows that the differences are not perceptible to the person playing the game.  Yes, digital foundry will tell you there is a difference, but they aren't playing the game.  they are just looking at it.

That is not comparable, higher resolution and higher framerates are objectively better than their lower counterparts, their is no opinion about that. The differences in subjectively percieved experiences are irrelevant, because other than the Reso/Framerate these games are identical. You're essentially saying that if you drive a Lamborghini in on a bright day in California vs the exact same Lamborghini on a rainy smogy day stuck in traffic in Shanghai.

The differences in reso/framerate are objectively real, and just because you can't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

So, your saying that differences that can't be percieved by the user should matter?

Wow, then the gaming experience won't be enough to ever satisfy the user no matter what system they buy.  They need to buy agaming  PC no matter what then.

No. Differences that are unrelated to the game do not matter. They might be a reason to buy a worse version of the game, but its still clear cut to which one is inferior and which one is superior.

Thats why saying something like controller, or friends doesn't matter, because everyone has different circumstances, a person who loves the xb1 controller so much that they don't ever want to use a PS controller will always buy an XB1 version regardless of it being worse, unless their prefrences change and controller drops in priority behind performance and fidelity.

But you can't generalize subjectivity to make general statements or you lose all credibility.

Yes, and once you know that, why would you buy multiplats for an Xbone?

ofcourse. all ps4 games are better.

or hell, if you care more about actual games than how the games look, then get a wii u. the games still look amazing and theyre more fun to play.

Don't start with "WiiU games are more fun other consoles are just about graphics" crap talk again. That is your opinion and not many people share it. PS4 is selling better than X1 and that's largely because multiplats are performing better on it.

I think you are responding to the other comment about controllers.  I wasn't speaking to something subjective.

Even though TV and movies would make it seem that people can percieve everything going on in their field of vision, that is simply not true.  In almost every case, the human mind only picks up fragments of what they are looking at and the brain just "assumes" the rest.  That's why I keep discussing what is perceptably different when actually playing a game as compared to what is really happening(the PS4 version is better technically).  Sure, when you disassociate yourself from the gameplay(Digital foundry), your brain then focuses on a whole different set of facts.  Thus the comparison or difference is more obvious.

In response to your first question... no. I'm saying that the ps4 is 50-100% more powerful.  And about the exclusives, yes, they look far better than xbox exclusives. And yes, if someone changes that settings on a game I'm playing on my PC, I very quickly notice the difference.

Like I said, no one(or not anyone sane) is arguing that the XB1 is equal to or more powerful thatn the PS4 anymore.  The debate seems to be more in line with what the real differences are when actually playing a game.   Most multiplats at this point have very similar resolutions - 900p upscaled to 1080p/1080p vs 1080p.  The frame rates seem to vary a bit.  But, an upscaled 900p image while actually playing a game on a large screen tv and a 1080p image on the same screen while actually playing a game would be imperceptible.  I am not saying there isn't a difference.  I am saying that if you are actuallly playing a game, you can't possibly be looking at the graphical differences and still interact with the game(unless your hiding behind a bush or rock).  Sure, when you watch a gameplay viseo on line that compares the 2 you can study the differences because you are not interacting in the game.  A comparison to a PC that is more likely on a small 27" monitior or small doesn't really work, as you would have to stop gameplay to change the settings.

This is laughably moronic argument and flat false. Not to mention the difference often go beyond resolution (Like some games missing AO, worse shadows, more Alaising, screen tearing jump out)...... You can feel Frame differences, and you can see Resolution difference immedaitely unless you have eye sight issuies. Your thread is moronic.

Good of you to comment with a new account to avoid a banning.  Proves your point oh so well.

Lol. This isn't an alt account of mine. Ever thing maybe you're just wrong?

I mention controller because I'm giving an example of how perceptual difference is irrelevant regardless of its a matter of experience or platform.

If you can discern the difference then it makes little sense to even argue for the version with lower res/fr because they cost the same amount of money.

If you can't buying habits are debatable, but the debate about which version offers more value is a verifiyable fact. Digital Foundry's job is to present objective analysis of a video games performance. Ironically, DF was hardly ever critiziced when they said the PS3 version was worse than the 360 version, but now that the tables have turned so has the criticism.

Odd question, and some odd responses. I think people are really kind of stretching here to avoid admitting the actual truth. The truth is, most multiplats perform better on the PS4, you can argue whether that's a major improvement or not to your hearts content, but that's delving deeper into the question than what is being asked.

Better, is better. Whether it's marginal, or monumental, is irrelevant.

1)Yes, better is better.  Only if better is what you were told and not what you experience.

2)I will go with a car analogy.

3)That was the real point of the OP.  That the actual differences while actually playing the more recent versions of the multiplats shows that the differences are not perceptible to the person playing the game.  Yes, digital foundry will tell you there is a difference, but they aren't playing the game.  they are just looking at it.

1) No, better is better.  Period.  If you ask a question that can be measured and weighed quantifiably, there will be an answer.

2) Poor analogy because if we're talking straight line there are more than a few Lambo's that can blow the doors off a Ferrari (Numerous models of both, allows for this), conversely, if we're talking track/course ability, Lambo has typically not been as agile as a Ferrari (though some of their newer vehicles challenge that trend).  The only way that analogy works or is comparable is if we were talking about Sony vs Microsoft.  Two different companies who offer similar but different things.

3) I'm certainly capable of noticing resolution and frame differences (as well as draw distances, lightning/shadow effects, particle effects etc...) in games, I also enjoy seeing engine tech demos and how they run, so who knows maybe I'm just more tuned into that.  However, your blanket statement that nobody notices, when clearly many people have noticed (nevermind Digital Foundry...they just put specific numbers to those differences), renders your point kind of moot.  Just because you don't notice them, doesn't mean they aren't there.

Again, the question was "Are the PS4 versions of multiplats really better", since they're the same game, and we can only really compare how each console handles those games, the answer is yes, the PS4 versions of multiplats really are better.

It might be a practically negligible claim, but it is true nonetheless. Just like PS4 is more powerful than Xb one. In practice it might not make a huge difference, but all other things being equal what is the smarter consumer decision?

PS4: smaller form factor, more powerful machine, better versions of most multiplats $399.
Xb one: HDMI in, $399.

Real classy to be calling people sheep.

Even if consumers can't notice a difference it doesn't change the fact that the PS4 will have the superior multiplat nine times out of ten.
