Forums - Gaming - Are the PS4 versions of multiplats really better??

Yes, and it is incredibly obvious. It isn't "A little" better, it is measurably and noticeably better.

the differences are so small that it really shouldnt factor into which console to buy. which console your friends have, which controller you like better, hell, even which looks more appealing or which looks better in your entertainment center should be bigger priorities than the differences you will notice in the ps4/x1 versions of games.

or hell, if you care more about actual games than how the games look, then get a wii u. the games still look amazing and theyre more fun to play.

There seems to be a lot of anger at Sony for Microsoft choosing a media centre instead of a powerful gaming machine. Sony don't get off scott free either, their machine should be about 10-15% more powerful to handle 1080/60 with ease instead of making it a touch and go challenge. In truth both machines should provide that, all the astro turfing and PR spin in the world won't change the facts for intelligent informed people.

Both the Xbox One and the PS4 CAN easily hit 1080p/60fps...if developers dial down the "whiz bang" effects a notch!  Hell, my Playstation THREE hits 1080p/60fps on some games (and I think "Virtua Tennis" on XBox 360 did as well).  It's a balance betweeen frame rates, special effects (like particle effects and shadows), and resolution.

Personally, I think Sony did a GREAT job with the hardware, considering the selling price!  Microsoft...not so much.

Its like if RC cola and real Coke were right next to eachother for the same price. sure RC cola is alright in its own way, but why would you really pick it over Coke lol

If you are Canadian, eh?

Good point. Yes they are better and although that's an advantage for the PS4, the average consumer wouldn't notice. Nevertheless, if we're comparing both systems, the PS4 is the superior console in terms of graphics, and many people who are considering buying a new console would know that the X1 has weaker hardware and PS4 games look better.

I only compared Battlefield 4, Watch_Dogs, AC4 and Outlast. The PS4 version is light years better in these (in comparition with the XONE).

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Odd question, and some odd responses. I think people are really kind of stretching here to avoid admitting the actual truth. The truth is, most multiplats perform better on the PS4, you can argue whether that's a major improvement or not to your hearts content, but that's delving deeper into the question than what is being asked.

Better, is better. Whether it's marginal, or monumental, is irrelevant.

Yes, better is better.  Only if better is what you were told and not what you experience.

I will go with a car analogy.  When discussing sports cars, many people may tell you that a Ferrari is "Better" than a Lamborghini.  Now, the people who say that can possibly come up with dozens of technical reasons to think so.  And, those reasons may be technically correct.  But, when you sit in the seat of both of them and drive around, you will not find those differences.  The reason is that unless your going fast enough in the right a=exact set of circumstances, the differences are imperceptible.

That was the real point of the OP.  That the actual differences while actually playing the more recent versions of the multiplats shows that the differences are not perceptible to the person playing the game.  Yes, digital foundry will tell you there is a difference, but they aren't playing the game.  they are just looking at it.

It is near the end of the end....

I'd say it's superior in terms of hardware, which doesn't necessarily have to translate to framerate/resolution.  It could simply be more draw distance, more destructibility etc...  The catch though, is it's up to developers to utilize those extra resources.
