I think it depends on how many systems Smash Bros. and Amiiboo move. If those have a substance effect on sales then it will hit 10 million no problem by year's end.

Its a safe bet, but all this talk about what it could do before as opposed to what it would do now is ignoring that before it didn't have the kinda competition its going to have this holiday season.

This is the first proper holiday season for the PS4/XB1. The real question now is just how much is the PS4 going to cannibalize sales of the other platforms. Statistically, the PS4 has been selling on average around 2:1 of either the WiiU/XB1 (and thats putting it mildly) all year. So logic dictates that whatever the PS4 sells through september to december the XB1/WiiU will sell half that respectively. If PS4 sells 5-6M then I would expect the wiiU to sell 2.5-3M.

I say its possible, but unless ssmb is bigger than MK8, i dont think so. This is where i think the 3ds is kinda cannibalizing wiiu sales in this case.

Wii U should easily pass 10m sold (according to VGC) by the end of the year.

Nintendo have even stated that there 3.6 forecast was a deliberate lowball so they wouldn't have the embarrassment of missing their forecast again.

And LMFAO about the Xbox One launching in Japan turning around it's fortune. Keep dreaming.

No way, Hyrule Warriors and Amiibo will not effect Wii-U sales at all. The system will sell 8-9 Mio units until end of 2014.

The console is currently at 6.8 million sold, with the line-up of games coming before xmas I would be surprised if it never made 10 million!

Definitely possible. Hyrule Warriors is shaping up to be an amazing game, Smash is of course going to be epic, and Bayo 1 and 2 for Halloween season is going to be freaking amazing. If they had Fatal Frame for that time period I'd say 11 mil, but 10 mil looks good. Not to mention the amiibos which is an interesting concept and the new Skylanders which seem to do very well on Nintendo consoles historically speaking. It'll be interesting to see the sales come Nov and Dec.

I would also like to see Nintendo really push X, Zelda U, announce Fatal Frame, show off Star Fox, and give us anything on SMT X FE for the holiday season. I'd also be happy with a blurred out TV screen of Metriod just to get people a little hype that one of those games is around the corner. A lot of people say of course Nintendo is going to make a Metroid game and I agree. But showing something usually means we'll get our hands on it sooner than later. I can see a lot of hype being built, let's hope they do something special for VGX (or VGA.... Whatever) this year.

nintendo has the kids image, and Xmas is all about the kids. and nintendo has mk, smash and amiibo for the kids, so the wii u should do better in Q4 than in any other Q.  the ps4 will not manage to outsell the wii u 2:1 i think, it will be closer.

Nintendo have been over-estimating... which is why they've underestimated this one. Pretty much everybody who saw Nintendo's forecast for 2014/2015 thought the same thing - they're lowballing their prediction because having to repeatedly go "We weren't able to reach our forecast" becomes tiresome and problematic. Forecasting 3 million and selling 5 million looks better than forecasting 10 million and selling 5 million.
