it sounds to me like they discovered that a core concept of the title wasn't going to work or something and so they scrapped the entire thing.  it sounds like they even had to go back and rethink the whole concept.  it must have been a huge wrench in Blizzard's plan cause they already had an internal timetable and i think they were counting on giving major support to WoW until then and now they're just sort of buying time. 

I personally just don't see the appeal of WoW.. The game is just..... there! There's nothing interesting or great about it!

That's what happens when you don't add new content for a year. But either way, the number of subscribers will shoot back up when the next expansion comes out. Warlords of draenor looks pretty fun, maybe I'll even come back (haven't subscribed since ulduar WOTLK).
