Forums - Sony - SONY Q1 FY 2014 results: 3.5m PS3+PS4, 0.75m PSP+PSV+PSVTV. $265m net profit.

I find it annoying as well and I'd like for anyone on here to try and make me out as anything but a PS fan.

It can be mentioned once, but doesn't need to be repeated ad absurdum in every thread, use the weekly chart threads for these comparisons or make your own threads for that stuff.

Yes you would, which is why people should be able to handle the consoles being compared without whining about it.

This will be my final post to you in this thread as you seem hell bent on getting this thread off topic.

Some of us here like to discuss and analyze numbers without it devolving into a shit slinging contest. I realize the vast majority of Chartz users like to measure their internet dicks based on how their fav company is performing, but some of us who have been here since the old days got into this site because we like to really delve into company performance.

Go make a thread about these numbers compared to Xbox One shipment numbers and have fun. I'm sure the quality of the responses will be fantstic and very educational.

I've only had it for a day.  I like it.  I haven't been using it much because I haven't input my PAC code to transfer my number across yet.

I am glad you like yours!

I'm not hell bent on anything. Analyzing numbers requires comparisons, to say it's automatically "shit slinging" is console war mentality.

Isn't ps4 severely undertracked here ? I see 1.6 millions on vgc for april may june and Sony's numbers seems to be between 2.2 and 2.8 millions.

That would be surprising though.

Go make a thread titled "PS4 is outshipping Xbox 3:1"! and tell me if it devolves into a console war thread. I've been on this site 6 years. Trust me.

So a few more quick hits from me.

1. Like it or not PS+ being mandatory is a very smart business move and will help drive profitability.

2. I agree with Kowen that Sony needs to continue to slim down its number of divisions

3. Sony needs to work a deal with Marvel to get Spidey in Avengers. The profit margin would be enormous with next to nothing in costs for Sony. Amazing Spider Man 2 underperformed on expectations and Amazing Spider Man 3 has been delayed. Its seriously a no brainer and would give them some much needed cash.

Yeah agree. I think the PS+ move was a good decision, business wise. And considering what they offer i think its good value.

Do you also think they need to get out of mobile? I think they've done well with the Xperia Z line-up. They just need to take it further...the android market is always looking for the next best phone, and considering that Samsung is only making minor improvements in their flagship range..i think they should keep at it. Maybe only target the high end market.

As for the Avengers deal, they definitely need to make it happen.

It only turns into one with immature minds. But that isn't even what I'm talking about. I'm talking about simply comparing the numbers. That isn't automatically "shit slinging".

No I don't think they should leave Mobile at all as honestly they have made some great phones, and they obviously have a market for the product still. I just am more in the boat that they need to not invest super heavily in the division and take large financial risks with it.

At this stage in Sony's recovery process they need safe bets, and guaranteed income. The company litteraly can't afford to have anymore big losses. They simply need to streamline mobile and not take any risky ventures with it. Keep producing what is selling in their mobile line and cut everything that's underperforming.

They simply cant win there.

They would be better off going budget or forgetting it all together.

Sales are down yoy with the z2 launch included.  Thats bad.

Ditch mobile.  Concentrate on Gaming, Movies and music.

Don't forget insurance and credit cards or whatever it is.
