Well, people got the game for free with Mario Kart 8 digitally. Pikmin 3 was probably the most picked game, so I'd say the majority of the sales came from MK8 buyers who got it for free.

Wow, glad to see so many people get to try out Pikmin because of the MK8 offer! Hopefully Nintendo sees the value in growing a series' fanbase through this kind of exposure.

I suspect Pikmin 3 will indeed reach 1 million, if it hasn't already. Also, selling due to the MK8 promotion can't remove it's feat - You still need to pay for MK8 to get to Pikmin, as well as the other games..yes, it's a HUGE sale, but it's a sale nonetheless.

I also downloaded Pikmin 3. Only played it a little so far, just because I'm new to the series, but I'm planning to give it a thorough playthrough soon. :3

WW HD made it to over 1.22 million without the promotion, so I wonder how high that game can reach with it. Maybe 2 million by 2015? It was always a good seller on the eShop, somehow. Even before the promotion.

Word of mouth is a big driver for WWHD, I would say. The sale with MK8 helped spread word of it to more people.

So did I. Haven't started playing it yet. Just finished Mass Effect 3 a few days ago (U version) and started playing Uncharted: Drake's Fortune this weekend. Maybe after Uncharted I'll give Pikmin 3 a go.

So interestingly Pikmin 3 and the top 13 games overall (these include retail games Wii Party U+LoZ WW HD) all have way above 132k in digital sales.
