Thus, first parties aren't enough to save WiiU.

This is possibly the worst time to be claiming that. Mario Kart seems to have increased baseline sales to ~60k as it's still seliing in that range over a month after MK8's release. Public opinion of the machine has changed greatly because of MK8 and the exclusives they showed at E3. At the moment, Nintendo has possibly the most impressive holiday lineup this holiday season. They've also been showing a complete mastery of marketing for Smash, their biggest holiday title.

Then there's the amiibo. Even if you don't like it and it doesn't take off as it looks like it's going to, it can still do one thing. It can renew interest in Mario Kart 8, essentially giving it a second release due to people wanting to see how amiibo affects it.

no it isn't! 50k baseline is not good! The only reason why people are happy with this is because WiiU was even worse!(30k last year)

If mario kart that is the biggest release this year on WiiU didn't make it sell 100k/week,do you really think Hyrule warrior or bayonetta will do?

Smash brothers will be released first on 3ds so don't count with this too.

I completly think that hyrule wariors and bayonetta will increase the baseline.

First of all games dont desapear over time, so in the long run they add up to form a a bigger interest point when buying a console. Maybe Bayonetta is not enough to make me want a wii u, but maybe bayonetta 1+2 has a biger pull, if not, maybe mario kar pluss bayoneta plus hyrule wariors does and so on and so on. Since nintendo games end up the higest rated games always, people loose interest in them a lot slower than they do for thir party multyplats that after a month they drop of the face of the earth and nobody even mntiones them. So yeah all thouse games will slowly increase the baseline of the console.

The critics already had a wack at this and said that playing smash on the 3ds is to small and the best experience is on the big screen, so I dont think people will choose the 3ds over the wii u, the 3ds will still do great but wont steal the spotlight.

And dont forget that consoles sell more over the hollidays than they do over the entre year. With this holliday line up wich was voted by many big gaming sites that the best e3 was from nintendo and have a great line up, the holliday will be amasing. The only reason I might think the wii u will do better than the ps4 is because the ps4 is selling so well there is not stock left for the hoolidays and sony cant seem to produce that much. Much like last year with the x1 beatint it just beacause of stock problems. I still think the ps4 will dominate all and it wont even be close but I belive the wii u will do very well.

Another thin you seem to forget about the times the ps2 killed it like it did, is that at that time it was unlikely that people had multiple consoles. This time around is almost the norm to have at least 2, not from the start obviously but eventually after the ps4 kills it, a lot of them will want another, and by then the prices will go down and the exclusive games in them increase people will go a get their second consoles and I belive this is when the wii u will shine. Wii u is such a vaslty diferent experience than the other 2 that I dont think people will wait that long to get their hands on the second console. This is the main reason I dont see any of the big 3 failing and nintendo to do good.

So you think thats funny? I think is funny how the wii u is outselling the xbone for the past 2 months even with all that support the x1 is guetting. Just in case, they are getting creamed this month too.

Wii U had Mario Kart which will probably be its biggest exclusive. Also at this time last year, the Wii U was doing terribly.

MK8 is probablt the biggest game, but it has many to come exclusively to the wii u, and some are relly great. Whats coming to the x1? A bunch of multy plats that only move ps4's, a remake that will only appeal to existent x1 owners, and sunset overdrive wich does not look that impresive and its a new ip so wont move a lot of consoles.

X1 had what it was percieved as a pricecut of $100 and lost, in last.

And your right it was doing terrible last year. The thing is that the wii u was alone at that time, if it sold bad it still sold better than the competition wich at that time was zero. So even selling bad it was growing a gap between them. So when the x1 arrieved and it sold great at the begining the wii u stayed ahead, and now tha the x1 is selling bad it will stay ahead.

And with so few games, X1 has still sold much more in 2014 than the Wii U.

X1 had a price cut but the Wii U is the cheapest console available.

Wii U being alone at the time is an advantage cause there was no competiton. I don't know how you think that's a disadvantage.

It sold great do to hype, but now we see it has slowed down considerable and the wii u has sold more in the past 2 months and is selling better this month as well. Its a  trend I see continuing this year.

Its the cheapest console available and it appeals to a diferent crowd. While the x1 fights for the scraps the ps4 leaves behind. So another advantage to the wii u.

I said that the wii u being alone in the first year is an advantage If you read what I wrote I said that even thou it sold bad in its first year, the little it sold allowed it to stay ahead of the competition when they came out.

The past 2 months are not a fair comparison cause the X1 price cut was announced in May, so that would have impaced sales for that month. If we compare the last 3 months, then X1 is higher than the Wii U.

So considering its just scraps, the X1 is actually doing pretty well.

And even with that 1 year headstart, current trends still suggest X1 wil pass it in the next year.

PS3 and 360 had a similar situation and ended 50/50. I think the best power/price and advertising will steal marketshare for PS4, but it would have to be a PS2 like takeover to drop X1 to Wii U LTD levels and that's not going to happen.

This gen is about a PS4 that had very few mistakes in its project and launch, a X1 that had a lot of mildly severe mistakes (most of them fixable, but the damage is done and reflected on sales) and a Wii U that had a lot of mildly severe and some huge mistakes, not all of them fixable. In consoles, the winner is the one that don't do silly mistakes.

That was what PS2 did. PS4 did a similar thing, but it won't be anywhere close to PS2 because X1 was a way more correct and competitive approach than the original XBox even with the mistakes they did. I consider the Wii U to have more mistakes than GC and that will be pretty clear when we look at final LTD sales some years down the road.

I will never, ever understand why people think it's bad to be alone with no competition.

Its fair? should nintend have asked MS if it was ok to realesa MK8?  But if your statement was correct then all thouse sells should have added up to the month of june with the already existent purcheses for the month so the x1 should have won easyly then. So your theory is incorrect.

The x1 was doing ok, its not doing ok anymore, even after the pricecut its now doing the same as before the price cut or even less. So its expected to drop even less. And dont bring up before it was doing 77k wich is crap, before means before the anounced pricecut wich was doing 115k.

And current trends before mk8 and pricecut sugested the x1 will suprass it, but the new sales sugest a new trend the the wii u will stay ahead.

The difference between the PS3 vs XB360 and the PS4 vs XB1 situation is night and day. The 360 locked itself in as the favorite console for multiplats early. If it weren't for a great lineup of exclusives to bolster itself, the PS3 probably would have suffered as much as the XB1 is going to now.

The XB model relies heavily on third party sales to remain competitive, as they only have maybe two major first party franchises. So the XB360 did amazingly well to lock up third parties, people would buy it to play multiplats on. Look at the keys to success for the 360:

1) It established a large user base before the PS3 was even out which is huge when you focus on online gaming and need to have the same system as your friends to play,

2) It became the go to system to develop multiplats on, and the PS3 got the lower quality ports because of it.

3) It was the cheaper of the two systems to start.

4) It had better online.

5) They did a wonderful job marketing it.

The XB1 completely missed that this generation by doing exactly none of the things that made the XB360 a good system. They lost the sales race immediately. The PS4 has the definitive version of ever multiplatform game. XB1 released at $100 more than its competition. The online is no longer superior to the PSN, costs more, and was required for all online functions, including Netflix. On top of all these failings, after pissing off their entire audience with their presentation, they proceeded to beat their ****s against the raging hornets nest and then talked about how players were the reason for their poor results.

I guess third party games are a selling point for the XBO.

nothing sells xb1s
no thrid Party games
no first Party games
no pricecuts
no bundles
nothing
