Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo is now aiming for 1080p? Over half the games shown at E3 were 1080p.

Some of them Will be 1080p, but others will be 720p. This option doesn't mean that much really.



Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

nintendo dont aim at a resolution. they dont care, gameplay and artstyle are much more important.

why are people always so dramatic about Nintendo doing things right?

Nintendo has the tradition of uploading the trailers for their games on their native resolutions, just think a little bit, WHY would they upscale the trailers of the games listed on 1080p while not upsacling the trailers of the videos listed on 720p, its fucking illogical to do that for something and not for something else.

so maybe and just maybe, yes they're targeting 1080p for a bunch of their games, it's that hard to believe that Nintendo is doig that?

While this tends to be the case it's not always true.

It seems like more recently they have tended to have the 1080p option for their 1st party trailers e.g. Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario 3d World, neither of which are 1080p.

Throw into the mix the fact that the Super Mario 3d World reveal trailer was only 720p and Wind Waker HD's E3 trailer was also 720p and there is far from a pattern.

i mean, look at the games listed in the op, if they are already upscaling some trailers, why not all of them, what is the poing of uploading some on 720p and others on 1080p, it doesn't make sense, that's why i say that MAYBE they are targeting 1080p, not that the games are confirmed 1080p just for their trailer video resolution

I understand your point but mine was they have previously uploaded 720p and 1080p videos for the same game, they have uploaded 720p videos for native 1080p games and 1080p trailers for 720p.  Therefore I don't think there is too much point surmising that there is any correlation between the games' native resolution and their available resolutions on Youtube.

They will all be 720p. The only Nintendo game that's 1080p is Wind Waker HD.

We go through this every ... single ... time ... lol. NSMBU is 1080p!!!! (no it's not). Mario Kart 8 is 1080p!!! (turns out, no it's not). Mario 3D World is 1080p!!! (sorry, nope).

The Wii U is a machine designed to run games primarily in 720p, accept it already and get on with your life.
