Forums - Gaming - Star Citizen creator gets a PS4 dev kit but insists 'It will NEVER be dumbed down for a lesser platform'

1. "In the grand scheme of things" implies including the yet-to-be-seen future, which has nothing to do with me saying that the fact that a start-up company has already reached $45 million is impressive.

So you say a start up company has rached $45M in sales and call that impressive. Your opinion. I say I don't thin that is impressive in relation to the grand scheme of things and include that $45M in my analysis. My opinion. This should have ended there. But you dragged me being a supposed PC hater into this.

2. Once again, I said that it was impressive that a start-up game dev already raised $45 million. That's the largest crowd-funded company in history, and they raise another mission or two every month.

Good for them, they are making a game. And games typically retail for $60 a pop. Games also cost a good deal of money to make. $45M is equivalent to 1M in sales at best (and I am being generous here). And if they sell another 1M after release at $50 per game that gives them a total of $95M. I will not look at them like no other gaming company exists or they are the first to make a hit game with their first release. I am sorry, but $45M is not impresive to me for reasons I have pointed out, and for reasons that you obviously are not considerring which is why to it is impressive. I look at their game, and i look at what it would ost to make the game, and support it after release. Thats why its not impressive to me. Don't gethy this is a problem.

3. Yes, I realise I said that first, because you were the one who has been arguing about PC optimisation and how companies should not listen to high-end PC users because we are "niche" on multiple threads now. I was pointing out that I wasn't going to argue with you over this because you already seem to dislike PCs a lot, but then you say that I think the same about consoles as you do about PCs, and I have no clue where you got that from. I LOVE my Wii U and PS4, and you just randomly throwing it out there was a baseless assumption.

Point is, bringing my stance on PCs had nothing to do with this topic. And branding me a PC hater simply because of my views on PCs and/or the costs associated to them simply cause you don't agree with me is disengenious. And if you felt it was ok to draw such connections I was just telling you that I could be doing the same to you (even if I did be wrong cause it would be based simply off me and you having a difference in opinion). However, i even went on to say that it wasnt related to this discussion in hope of keeping us on track. We have a difference in opinion when it comes to PCs. I don't see how me think that consoles are more straightforward and easier/cheaper to get into (even if I am wrong as far as you are concerned) has ANYTHING to do with what we are talking about here.

4. Yes, I know that you didn't flat out say it, but you certainly were implying some animosity in your quote, and I was saying that I have been and will continue to be civil.

I am sorry you feel that way. Be rest assured, there is no animosity here.

And if you feel you have no right to prove you own the game, fine. Don't say you own it then if you have no way to back it up. It would be easy to launch Star Citizen and prove you own it, but nope.  Anyone in my shoes would assume you're being untruthful if you can't prove it, and if you're fine with that, so be it.

And thats just the thing, I don't care what you think. I don't care if you believe me or don't. And I will not do something just to make you believe me. That to me makes zero sense. But indulge me, what gives you the right to tell people what to say or not say simply cause they refuse to give you proof as to what they are saying? This is not me quoting numbers or an article. Or talking about someone else. You asking asking me to show you what I did or didnt do with my own money. Ok, I live in a beautiful 3 bedroom apartment with floor to ceiling windows all around, have an M5 beemer parked in the garage and a panigale R. I am also dating a very popular model. Should I show reciepts and pictures of all these too?????? (a lot of what i just said now aren't entirely true, just making a point). Please, believe what you want to believe, but get this much, me proving anything to you only is relevant if "I" care enough to have you believe me. I don't. And I very fine with that thank you.

I think we should stop derailing the thread. Looking back at what started this, I honestly don't get what was so wrong with me saying them saying stuff like this is not good. Its not like I am the only person in this thread tht thinks so.

You said $45 million wasn't impressive. That's what I was arguing was wrong, not whether RSI came off as jerks (which they did). I called into question your PC stance because it makes it difficult arguing with you have such strong bias against the platform/games, arguing against optimised PC games (which this is) in other threads.

But yeah, we are getting off topic. Let's end it for now.

This is why PC gaming will always be in the shadows. When you put horse power as the #1 priority, you're screwing yourself and limited your appeal.

Yup.

They have raised more than 48 Million $ via crowdfunding.

I´d hardly  call that "limited appeal" or "in the shadows".

Edit: Beaten vom Nebel

Being "in the shadows" basically means that when you bring up gaming at work, or school..90% of the time it's going to be something on a console. PC gaming is niche and always has been. That's not a BAD thing, really, but true none the less.

Hahaha... that part actually made me lol.

Who knows, you and I may actually end up being best of forum budies :)

So, he's saying that it is possible to put the game on the PS4 without dumbing it down. Good to know.

I will give them credit for raising $45 million via crowdfunding. Now if we put away some variables like funding source, experience etc and only count the money then something funny happenes. $45 million is nothing now a days. Many games have budjet $80 - $100 million. But "limited appeal" or "gamers living in the shadows" sees $45 million as a bright star. Lol. Yeah. You are right. And from the gameplay what it seems its an average space shooter with nice graphics.

I dont want that boring MMO in PS4. But devlopers probably want and will make silly arguments when there is no demand. Just like cryteck. I pity these developers. I guess these guys want to have some mental peace thinking themselves are superior.

To be fair, Crysis did have to be dumbed down considerably to work on PS360.

It would be awesome playing cross platform (PSN & XBL) on any game, but i can imagine the shit slinging over who's console is better lol.

OT. I dont care at this game comes to console or not, dont see why its massively hyped although i would like to try VR with it, same with No Man's Sky.

But Crytek ported in "weaker" platforms. Lol. Crytek ported their most favorite game to the lesser platforms.
