Forums - Nintendo - 3DS survey

Hello, please take my survey if you are at least 18 years or older and if you own a 3DS

1. Do you ever play your 3DS in public? If so where "e.g. on the bus, at the library, etc" Please mention as much detail as possible.

2. If you answered yes to the above, do you ever feel ashamed or stigmatized for using the 3DS in public? Do you feel that people are silently judging you?

3. If you don't use your 3DS in public, is it because you are worried about being judged/stigmatized?

Thank you sirs.

You know, this is a very sensitive question. In some countries up until very recently, adults were burnt at the stake for playing a Nintendo in public.

1. Not at all. I use handhelds at home because I buy them for the games themselves, not really for the convenience of being able to play games in public.

2. Null

3. Not really. I like to be able to sit in peace and play my games instead of having to play games in a loud environment. I can't really enjoy a game like that.

Thanks guys, keep the responses coming.

You might be tempted to troll but honest and sincere answers would make for interesting data collection. I'm sure we're all deep down interested in this topic.

1. I play mine in public. There's not really any specific time or place. It's just whenever I feel like playing it. Like another user said, I don't really do it for convenience, but sometimes I feel like playing a game when I'm outside my house.

2. Nope. See my sig. And I've also never noticed other people paying attention to my playing. People typically mind their own business.

Yes

No

I´m too old to care about what other people, who are insecure themselves, think about me.
I´d rather be seen playing a 3DS game in public than some brain dead trashy mobile title like Candy Crush.

1. I use my 3DS for longer travels. I take it with me most of the time (same as my PSP, PS Vita and a GBA) and use it every week when I travel from home to my flat near the university, which is about 1 1/2 hours by train and bus. Generally, I'll use it whenever the ride is longer than 30 minutes. I also sometimes use it on campus when there's nothing better to do.

2. I'm not ashamed, no. Everyone thinks something about what he/she sees. So if someone sees me playing 3DS, of course he will think something to himself. I'm aware that that thought might be a negative one, but that doesn't bother me, because, really, it's the same with everything you do. If I'd worry about stuff like that, I'd have a hard time deciding on what clothes to wear or how to style my hair. I don't. I do what I like, and as long as that doesn't harm or bother anyone, I should feel free to do it.
And, generally, if people actually come up and comment on me playing 3DS, their comments have only been positive. I've never had anyone telling me how it is childish to play Nintendo or some stupid stuff like that.

Even in middle school (where I think this is a bigger problem than it is in University) I usually was very open about being a Nintendo fan and Pokémon enthusiast, even though there were some people calling me out based on that. I didn't bother, and I actually found out that a lot of the guys that acted though and "too cool for Nintendo" had bought all the new Pokémon games and were generally interested in what I was playing as long as they weren't with their group of friends. It's funny; they probably pretended to not care about Nintendo/Pokémon to not get rejected by their "friends" even though their friends (for the most part) also played Pokémon. I don't know if they ever noticed.

Ask me about 3DS Friend Code if interested. All other things are in the profile!

1. No, I play it in bed, lounging on my deck and back yard, or while on the can.

3. I don't really play it that much to begin with and the only time I might have enough time to play it when it public is while on a plane, and in that situation I prefer reading.

1. Occasionally, but only if I'm sitting down for long periods of time otherwise I'd be too distracted.

2. Stigmatized? A little. Ashamed? No. I couldn't give a fuck what they think.

3. Not really.

1- I dont play my 3DS in public nor any handheld because I do not want to get them dirty or damaged.

2- Null

3- Refer to 1. I do not care if people see me playing the 3DS, they are just jealous because all they have to play is Angry Birds.
